What You Can Expect

Sintra Small Group Tour from Lisbon

View from the Seteais Palace to the Pena Palace

In the morning, you’ll be collected from your Lisbon hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi. During the short journey to Sintra, your guide provides a historical overview of the picturesque region.

Your first stop is the UNESCO-listed Pena National Palace, a glorious confection of color perched on the summit of Sintra mountain. Take a tour of the Romantic monument with your guide, not forgetting to enjoy the botanical beauty of its gardens.

Next, head to Quinta da Regaleira and opt to enter the grounds at your own expense. The UNESCO-listed site features a subterranean grotto, elaborately carved buildings, and lush gardens, enshrouded in an air of Gothic mystery.

In the historic center of Sintra, you’ll have time to purchase lunch and sample a traditional Portuguese pastry. Explore independently during free time, and then reconvene with your guide for the journey to Cabo da Roca, a dramatic collection of cliffs that signify Europe’s westernmost point.

During the journey back to your Lisbon hotel, you’ll pass the coastal town of Cascais and the rugged Boca da Inferno (Hell’s Mouth) rock formation. Bid your guide farewell after hotel drop-off.

We had a wonderful time and our guide was fantastic. I would highly recommend this trip as a way to get a quick overview of the city, explore a castle, see some fantastic gardens, and the most western point of Europe. Our guide was passionate about Portugal and made us feel very welcome.

An excellent whole day tour with pick up and drop off at our hotel. Sintra, the Cabo da Roca and Cascais were very worthwhile. There was an extra charge to enter the place which was well worthwhile but the gardens are beautiful as an alternative and included in the price. Sintra offered lunch try the octopus! at own cost or a walk around the high quality tourist shops for crafts. The Cape is spectacular and well worth the visit while Cascais provided a nice walk around and an ice-cream! Andre is an excellent guide! Strongly recommended!

Best trip you will take from Lisbon. Sintra is a magical place full of history and excitement! The local guide, André one of the owners, was superb. He was knowledgable and really helped us feel apart of Sintra's lifestyle. What I loved most is that they highlighted key historical facts but also allowed for us to go off on our own to explore on our own and take pictures. It was the perfect format for a proper adventure! I would have zero hesitation booking another tour though them or recommending to anyone.

This trip has been one of the many highlights of my Portugal trip in February this year. Our tour guide had been wonderful and knowledgeable in answering all the questions we've thrown at him. The best thing is that he has also been giving us enough time to wander on our own pace the places after he's given his own personal recommendations which are usually quite accurate and easy to follow. The visit to Pena Palace is a must when visiting Lisbon. It's grandiosity serves as a monument to quite a colorful past of the area and the people who used to live in those walls. If you're in the area, please make sure that you visit Piriquita bakery. Their pillows pastry are extraordinary! Overall, I'm quite pleased and highly recommend Portuguese For a Day Tours when making this day trip!

We had perfect weather for our day with Andre, and he was the perfect guide as well. The size of the group was small enough that it felt like a private tour. We had plenty of time for seeing al of the included sites. We would definitely recommend this tour.
