What You Can Expect

Sintra Small Group Tour from Lisbon

View from the Seteais Palace to the Pena Palace

In the morning, you’ll be collected from your Lisbon hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi. During the short journey to Sintra, your guide provides a historical overview of the picturesque region.

Your first stop is the UNESCO-listed Pena National Palace, a glorious confection of color perched on the summit of Sintra mountain. Take a tour of the Romantic monument with your guide, not forgetting to enjoy the botanical beauty of its gardens.

Next, head to Quinta da Regaleira and opt to enter the grounds at your own expense. The UNESCO-listed site features a subterranean grotto, elaborately carved buildings, and lush gardens, enshrouded in an air of Gothic mystery.

In the historic center of Sintra, you’ll have time to purchase lunch and sample a traditional Portuguese pastry. Explore independently during free time, and then reconvene with your guide for the journey to Cabo da Roca, a dramatic collection of cliffs that signify Europe’s westernmost point.

During the journey back to your Lisbon hotel, you’ll pass the coastal town of Cascais and the rugged Boca da Inferno (Hell’s Mouth) rock formation. Bid your guide farewell after hotel drop-off.

What a FABULOUS tour! Filipa was a great guide. On-time pickup, no transportation issues. The drive and sights were amazing. Filipa provided a lot of information about the sights, as well as the history of Portugal and the region. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour!

This tour is excellent. It gets very good write ups and it deserves these. Andre was a great tour guide, very organised, client focussed, knowledgeable and very proud of Portugal. Sintra is a wonderful destination, not that far from Lisbon, but just so much to see and do. We did two palaces Pen and the Sintra Palace and they were different and both worth doing the castle tours. The history and culture in this area is very interesting and the scenery is beautiful. We went to the Cabo da Roca on the beautiful coastline and then to the lovely upmarket seaside town of Cascais which could be a day tour on its own. Make sure if you go here you eat the Gelato at Santini's.

If you are in Lisbon and want to see the wonders outside of the city I highly recommend this tour. It's being arranged for small groups - kind of a boutique tour - and it makes it more special.
Andre was our guide and he was very knowledgeable about Lisbon and Portugal and also very professional. He picked us up from the hotel and took us around the must see places around Sintra as explained in the tour information. He also gave us good recommendations on where and what to eat.
So, if you are looking for a tour with a guide you can trust and also eat well, you should book this one!

We honestly could not fault this tour if we tried. Portuguese For a Day Sintra tour was the perfect end to our holiday in Lisbon. Andre was a fabulous guide who had a contagious positive energy and detailed knowledge about Lisbon and every single place we visited. Communication from start to finish was seamless, pickup close to our accommodation and drop us off again at the end of the day. Wishing we had booked the tour sooner into our trip rather than at the end, as we would have definitely booked another tour with Portuguese For a Day.

This was a fantastic trip with Andre. We had a very small group which made the experience personable and easy. We could tell Andre has a lot of knowledge and passion for history and loved all the info he shared while in the van. This tour doesn't include the cost of some of the entries, but allows you to choose what you want to participate in. You see a lot in one day, the colorful Pena palace, the really unique Regalares grounds and palace, Sintra town, the west coast, and a seaside town. Andre was a fantastic guide and would love to do another tour with Portuguese for a Day again! Thanks Andre!

Andrea is a great guide - knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. We were first into Pena Park, avoiding the crowds later in the day. We could walk through the castles without waiting to see what we wanted to see. He provided choices for places to eat lunch in Sintra village, invited us to try his favorite pastry shop in the village - yummy!! He is a careful driver.

It would have been helpful if he had been able to guide us through the castles in Sintra given his extensive knowledge of Portugal.

The tour includes travelling along the country's beautiful coastline, stopping at the western most point of Europe.

Would we go with Andrea again? Yes!

A great day!
