The guide was expert, she talked through the whole day, and gave information about not only our trip but about Lisbon, and its important places, the language and commons. I enjoyed the whole day.

Tania was a great tour guide she gave us insight into Sintra you wouldn't have normally would have known if you just took public transportation and did your own self guided tour of the castle. Tania also took us to Cabo da Roca the most western point in Continental Europe and Cascais for a brief visit of this famous beach town and it was very lovely even for January. Finally, she also gave us recommendation of Sintra's best bakery. All in all, having Tania as our tour guide was well worth the money.

This tour was great, and I highly recommend it to anyone. Tania was our tour guide, and she was fantastic. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the histories and facts of the cities. The Pena Palace in Sintra is absolutely beautiful, and it is a great experience to get a tour of it with Tania explaining the history and significance of it. Also, the stops along the way to Cascais give you a chance to see other parts of the Western coast of Portugal, places that would otherwise be hard to get to on your own as a tourist. Sintra and Cascais are beautiful cities, different from Lisbon but rich with so much history and culture. Definitely a great experience while in Portugal, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to see some great sights outside of Lisbon!

Our tour guide, Manuel, was very friendly and had an amazing wealth of information. My only critique is that the van was a little cramped but I'd still recommend the tour.

Excellent tour to magical Sintra which took in the seaside resort of Cascais and a visit to the westernmost point of continental Europe. Our guide, Tanya was great. Her knowledge of the places we visited, other places we drove past, and Portuguese history was outstanding. I would like my next tour with Lisbon Riders to be with her.

We travelled with Lisbon Riders, and the lady driver/guide was excellent throughout the 8 hour trip around Lisbon. We were treated with plenty of knowledge of each location, and in a leisurely manner.
Just great, highly recommended.

Very friendly n knowledgeable guide. Saw all the best sights with plenty of photo n gourmet eating opportunities. Sintra n Cascais very different but equally delightful. Fair bit of walking - climbing in Sintra but flat in Cascais. Comfortable minibus. Just great ! :

A friend recommended this tour and we weren't disappointed! Meeting arrangements were easy and the vehicle very comfortable. Manuel was an excellent guide, who gave an interesting narrative throughout the tour, in excellent English. We visited the palace in Sintra first, followed by Sintra itself. En route to Cascais, we then visited a small fishing village and Caba da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe - well worth seeing. Cascais itself was very pleasant and there was time for a lovely ice-cream! The route back to Lisbon was also interesting and we all learned a great deal during the day. Manuel was kind and courteous, accommodating the differing needs of group members very well. This was a really great day out, well worth the money - highly recommended.

We were a group of 7 people. We were happy that our tour guide Manuel Leitao came to our 2 hotels to pick us up. The van was very comfortable. The drive to Sintra was very nice and enjoyable. We started early to beat the crowd at the Pena Palace, which was amazing. All in all, our tour guide was very good in time management. In the afternoon he drove us through Caiscas, a beautiful coastal town near Lisbon. Our tour in fact took longer than the specified 8 hours. Manuel was very patient and dropped us off at places where some of us would like to have dinner, and back to our hotel for the rest of us.

Fantastic experience! Our guide and driver Kat was very knowledgeable and provided great insight during the day. She also was helpful in taking photos for us at the different stops. This tour is a great overview of the different places outside Lisbon that you could easily go back to visit if you wanted to spend more time. Highly recommend.

Communication with Lisbon Riders, before the tour, was very good. I good a reply from Manuel within a few hours.

Manuel was also our tour guide for the Sintra and Cascais tour. He was full of information, not the stuff you already read on the internet but more the story behind the story, which I like. The tour was also designed around this a bit, as we followed the tram track from Sintra to the sea, and two beaches to compare with the Cascais beach.

Manuel also gave us ample information about the places where we were allowed to go our own ways. This I felt was a bit limited to what the majority of tourists will want to know, viz good food and sites of historical interest. For my part, I could have been challenged a bit more to explore the places, not so much as a tourist. I discovered the Media Museum quite by accident, and had only 15 minutes to rush through this amazing museum.

The information given was excellent, fair and honest.

The mini van was very comfortable, even for a senior traveller who had a bit of a knee/leg problem.

Finally, I like that even though we went as a group, we were allowed to all do our own thing at our own pace, as much as possible. As a result poor Manuel had a hard time gathering us all up, at Sintra,

Our group of eight, none of whom was younger than 65, was tired from 11 days touring Poland where we walked a minimum of 3 miles per day. No surprise then that only one of us hiked uphill with our ebullient guide Tânia of lisbonriders.com from the parking area to Pena National Palace atop Sintra Mountain. The rest of us rode up the hill in a vehicular shuttle to tour the 19th Century Romanticist castle. Architecturally eclectic, the castle features Neo-Manueline, Neo-Gothic, and Neo-Renaissance styles and has likely has inspired many a fairy tale storybook illustrator. We visited the town of Sintra for lunch before stopping in the tony town of Cascais for a while, viewing the surfers above Estoril, and gradually wending our way back to Lisbon in time for cocktails.

Inside the van Tânia used her stage voice to carry to the back seats over the noise of engine and traffic. She was exceedingly warm, and revealed her patriotism as she discussed Portuguese historical events such as the Great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755 and Lisbon's subsequent rebuilding under the direction of Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquis of Pombal and Prime Minister to Joseph I, whose engineers developed and implemented the first significant earthquake-resistant construction techniques in Europe, if not the world.

Tânia had thoughtfully prepared her presentations so as to inform without overloading her charges. We had a very good time in her care.
