Overview

Visit two of Slovenia’s highlights on a full-day, small-group tour from Zagreb to Ljubljana and Lake Bled. Take a walking tour of the historic Slovenian capital, enjoy the view from the Ljubljana Castle, then drive into the Julian Alps to see Lake Bled’s medieval castle and island church. This full-day Slovenia tour includes all activities and round-trip transport from centrally-located Zagreb hotels, and it’s limited to 15 people for a more personal experience.
  • Visit Slovenia on a day-trip from Zagreb
  • Walking tour of Ljubljana
  • Ride a funicular to Ljubljana Castle
  • Tour Bled Castle and Lake Bled
  • Small group tour for personal service
  • Pickup and drop-off in centrally-located Zagreb hotels
Meet a driver at your Zagreb hotel or at Zrinjevac park (see Booking details for more information about hotel pickup), then begin the 87-mile (140-km) trip to Ljubljana in a climate-controlled vehicle, crossing the border into Slovenia en route. Upon arrival in Ljubljana, stretch your legs on a walking tour of the center, learning about Ljubljana history, architecture, and culture along the way.
You’ll see a quirky cement bridge decorated with dragons, long a symbol of Ljubljana, and board a glassed-in funicular railway up to the Ljubljana Castle, a medieval fortress with views across the city.
From the castle, continue to Lake Bled, a 34-mile (55-km) trip with views to the Julian Alps, a rocky stretch of mountain peaks that extend from Slovenia to Italy. You’ll have an aerial perspective on the lake from the ramparts of Bled Castle, which is perched high above the water on a rocky outcropping. Descend to the small town at the edge of Lake Bled for a walk by the water, or stop in a local café to try the local specialty, a cake layered with fragrant vanilla custard.
Following your time at Lake Bled, begin the 122-mile (197-km) return trip to Zagreb, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

After an organized tour of Croatia and Bosnia, my daughter and I added on a day trip to Ljubljana and Lake Bled. We had seen the photos and decided it was a must see stop. We had spent 9 days with 43 strangers and were looking forward to a small group tour. We were very fortunate that the other people scheduled for this tour backed out at the last minute leaving the two of us with a private tour. With only two paying customers, you might expect the guide to make a half- hearted effort , but nothing could have been further from the truth. After learning we had had some illness and bad weather on our first tour, Luka vowed to give us his very best. Luka tailors his tour to meet the interests of his clients. I have been on plenty of "canned tours" where the guide knows only his script. This is not the kind of tour you will get from Luka. We told him we were interested in history, economic, politics and culture. We were both amazed by his breath of knowledge, not only on these subjects but also on architecture, geology, music, pop culture, and international affairs. I was convinced he had spent time in America because of his mastery of English and American slang, but he has never visited. He is remarkably well read and assimilates the information he learns from his clients on his tours. ( We were blown away by his ability to discuss John Adams and his contribution to the American revolution in addition to things like the American Jazz Age). Luka offered a nice balance of a guided orientation tour with free time to wander and take photos. We had a local guide in Ljubljana who we absolutely loved. She was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The two of them offered suggestions on places to eat in both locations which proved to be excellent. Both sites were truly lovely. We were blessed with perfect weather- somewhat cool and very sunny, so that enhanced our experience. If you only have one day to see Slovenia I don't think you could pick a better company or guide. It was the favorite day of our entire trip.

Our tour guide made this journey exceptional. He was a history buff and I learned more from him in 2 hours, than I did on any of my other tours combined. Ljubljana is beautiful as is Lake Bled. I do wish we had more time in Lake Bled, you do not get enough time to see go on the island.

Beautiful tour, great guide. The other people in my group were super irritating, but that isn't the company's fault : Traveler tip: Would recommend not going on a Sunday, because Ljubljana is a little dead. Such a beautiful country, though.

I loved the experience! Petros was a great option. I also did Plitvice with them and was awesome as well. Small group in a van, which makes border crossing easier. Our guide Steve was great. Very friendly and caring. Gave us tips for photos and where to eat. Shared great info regarding Slovenia!

My guide, Goran, and the local guide in Ljubljana, were outstanding. Besides the usual infor mation you'd expect on a tour, Goran and I talked about all sorts of topics which gave me a much better understanding and appreciation for the region. Another plus was that even though I was the only person going, they didn't cancel on me and I ended up having a private tour. The local company Viator uses was also very helpful when a second tour I'd booked did have to be cancelled due to heavy snow and road closures including the national park.

Slovenia is a beautiful country and I highly recommend anyone visiting Croatia to go. But what made my tour wonderful was a knowledgeable, caring and happy tour guide, Stjepan! He had so much to tell me about the history and lifestyles of both Slovenia and Croatia! You must request him!!! Amazing!
