What You Can Expect

Slovenian Coast and Karst Region Day Trip from Ljubljana

Admire the beautiful Škocjan Caves

Meet your professional guide at your central Ljubljana hotel and board an air-conditioned vehicle for a pleasurable tour of Slovenia. Experience the rich history of this region as you cruise the countryside towards Predjama Castle.

As you approach the cliffside where the castle is nestled, learn how this architectural marvel was built 700 years ago. Plus, hear the famous story of Erazem, who took hold of the castle in the 15th century and used a private corridor to collect supplies while defending the castle.

Next cruise about 40 minutes to visit one of the natural treasures of the planet, Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Listen as your guide explains why this underground canyon is a one of few natural phenomena in the world. Before continuing on, stop for break and savor some local prosciutto paired with a glass of Slovenian wine.

Now, continue to charming Lipica* and delve into an equestrian experience. Visit the famous white Lipizzaners and gain insight into the oldest European stud farm producing the oldest cultural horse breeds.

From here, it’s 28 green miles to the coast and Piran. Wander the cobblestone streets of this medieval village and discover its alluring squares and coastal vantage points. Pick a restaurant in town and enjoy local fish specialties (own expense) or grab a swim in the sapphire blue Adriatic Sea. Dry off and buckle up for a ride back to your hotel Ljubljana.

*Note: the visit to the Lipizzaner horses in Lipica is not possible during winter (November to March) Horses are kept in the stables during the cold season and are not accessible to visitors during that time.

Can't say enough - 10 stars! Luka was an engaging guide and driver. The small group size - no more than 8 - allows for personalized experience and flexibility. Perfect Slovenian sampler - you mountains, farmland and seaside - such variety in a small country. Skocjan was otherworldly and Piran enchanting!

Great guide and would recommend the tour if you want to pack in seeing a lot of different landscapes within limited time, and without the hassle of public transport. The Skocjan Caves were an incredible highlight, and we had a lot of fun stepping into the beaut, clear Adriatic Sea whilst in Piran!

Great guide and great trip with Roundabout Tours! Our guide/driver was local, friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and a great conversationalist... able to add insights/history/facts into our drive, relevant to the conversations happening and to the towns/sights we visited. The caves were AMAZING, seeing the castle was very cool, and Piran was a great little town plenty of time to go for a swim and eat some fresh seafood in a cafe. Highly recommend!

Absolutely awesome tour, which encompasses everything we wanted to see by the coast, the beach/water, food etc... Great guide, well organised and very friendly. Highly recommended. Could have spent another hour at the coast though...

I booked this tour because I wanted to visit the Skocjan caves and to see Piran. Time was restricted for me, so a tour, rather than using Slovenia's public transport system made sense.
I'm so glad I did book this. The day just worked out really well, from the visit to Predjama castle to the amazing caves, to the hours spent in Piran.
Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and interesting.
The only disappointment was that I didn't pack a towel and swim shorts to take a dip in the beautiful, inviting Adriatic. But obviously, that's my fault, not the tour operator's.
I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone thinking of booking it.
