What You Can Expect

Slovenian Coast and Karst Region Day Trip from Ljubljana

Admire the beautiful Škocjan Caves

Meet your professional guide at your central Ljubljana hotel and board an air-conditioned vehicle for a pleasurable tour of Slovenia. Experience the rich history of this region as you cruise the countryside towards Predjama Castle.

As you approach the cliffside where the castle is nestled, learn how this architectural marvel was built 700 years ago. Plus, hear the famous story of Erazem, who took hold of the castle in the 15th century and used a private corridor to collect supplies while defending the castle.

Next cruise about 40 minutes to visit one of the natural treasures of the planet, Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Listen as your guide explains why this underground canyon is a one of few natural phenomena in the world. Before continuing on, stop for break and savor some local prosciutto paired with a glass of Slovenian wine.

Now, continue to charming Lipica* and delve into an equestrian experience. Visit the famous white Lipizzaners and gain insight into the oldest European stud farm producing the oldest cultural horse breeds.

From here, it’s 28 green miles to the coast and Piran. Wander the cobblestone streets of this medieval village and discover its alluring squares and coastal vantage points. Pick a restaurant in town and enjoy local fish specialties (own expense) or grab a swim in the sapphire blue Adriatic Sea. Dry off and buckle up for a ride back to your hotel Ljubljana.

*Note: the visit to the Lipizzaner horses in Lipica is not possible during winter (November to March) Horses are kept in the stables during the cold season and are not accessible to visitors during that time.

The second must-do trip if you're visiting Slovenia the first one being the tour of the lakes. Really glad we chose to go to Skocjan Caves rather than Postojna Caves, as although I'm sure the latter is great too, the remoteness and scale of the former is mind-blowing! The stop at the castle was nice for getting pretty pictures, likewise the opportunity to see the horses. I could have easily spend half a day strolling around Piran, but the time allocated still proved to be enough to enjoy the highlights. Loved it!

One of the best tours I have ever been on! Extremely good price considering all the amazing activities we got to do and the beautiful places we saw all within one day. Our guide, Mathias Berloi, was superb. He knows so much about Slovenian history, is very charismatic, and made sure we all had a great time. I never felt rushed, unlike other tours that hurry to get you back in the van. The trip was perfectly planned. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys the adventures of mountains and caves, the deliciousness of Slovenian food and wine, and the peacefulness of the Adriatic Sea. Thank you, Mathias!

Great tour and Darja was an excellent guide. Lots of variety in the tour. Cave was spectacular. Stop for wine and ham relaxing. We had plenty of time to enjoy Piran for meal and swim.

Great trip well informed organised and friendly guide Eva. She was great. Competent diver well informed and could answer any questions about country culture etc not related to specific tour. Where she was not guiding she always brirfed us fully. Great trip. Skocjan is a must see. Trip offered more than expected. Wonderful day with great co- travellers and super guide. Highly recommended. Would be good to have one more hour in Piran. I remained over night as I wanted to seem more but 2- 4 hours is actually plenty depending on season. A meal a boat ride a swim and a walk to the castle. Then unless you like holiday crowds that enough.
