Ideal for families, this 7-hour day trip from Ljubljana combines two of Slovenia’s top attractions, Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. From Ljubljana, you’ll travel with ease to Postojna Cave to explore stalactite-studded caverns and limestone passages in an electric train. Then, you’ll take a tour of the fairy tale Predjama Castle perched on a hillside at the mouth of a gaping cavern. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Ljubljana are included on this small-group tour, limited to 15 people.
Your tour begins at your Ljubljana hotel, where you’ll board a climate-controlled vehicle destined for Potstojna Cave. On arrival here, you’ll board an electric train and embark on a journey through one of Slovenia’s most popular attractions.
Dramatic stalactite formations, limestone curtains, and mysterious passages demand attention and cavernous voids seem to swallow you whole. After the train ride, spend some time exploring the caverns on foot before you proceed to your second stop.
Following a short journey, arrive at Predjama Castle — a mysterious, 800-year-old landmark perched impregnably at the mouth of a hillside cave. Take a guided tour of the unconquerable castle, the largest cave-castle in the world, to see armory and richly furnished rooms, and to learn the legend of Erasmus, the Slovenian rebel associated with the castle.
Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your Ljubljana hotel.
Really a good tour by Mathew, out guide and driver!! Funny guy with lots of information on almost everything you want to know about here! The cave is awesome and we visited the Predjama castle late in the evening, stay out of the crowd. I really enjoy it! Worth the price definitely, highly recommend.
Fantastic and interesting tour with an engaging guide. Vehicle was warm though as no air vents in the middle or back seats.
There was a mess up on our pick up and we ended up starting about an hour late. The caves are overcrowded and we were in a group of 130 English speakers. You could not hear the guide and he only stopped to give us info twice. Whereas there were about 15 stations for the audio tour. The castle and caves are worth seeing but try to avoid the crowds
