Very nice trip! We enjoyed it too much!
This was our second trip with Luka from Roundabout and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The journey from Ljubljana to Venice was very comfortable and was interesting to see the changing scenery from Slovenia to Italy. There was a stop at a service station in Italy for toilet breaks/coffee as well. Once we had parked in Venice, Luka took the tour there was 6 of us through the winding streets of Venice and told us some of the history of the city as well. We walked for around 40 minutes to an hour to St Marks Square where we had 4 hours of free time to discover Venice by ourselves. We went on a gondola, had some Italian pizza and huge ice cream and wandered around until we had to meet Luka and the rest of the group back at St Marks Square. On our way back to the car we decided to take a water taxi which was 12 EUR each and wasn't included in the tour price. If you didn't want to pay for that then the whole group would of walked back to the car, but after a long hot day in the city you were pretty exhausted so most tours usually took that option. We then had another 2.5 hour journey back to Ljubljana with another stop at a service station in Slovenia to stretch your legs and use the toilet.
We had a very enjoyable day and first visit to Italy and Luka was a great tour guide/driver.
My only improvement would be to allow the group to look into shops on the way to St Marks Square as there was some interesting stores which we couldn't remember our way back to, but apart from that we had a great day :
Venice was a little crowded but well worth the visit.
This was my first time in Venice. The guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. It was a wonderful time despite the weather in the afternoon, will go back later.
Extremely knowledgeable guide gave us a wealth of historical information on our way to Venice. We had a nice walk through the windy, cobblestone side streets of Venice on our way to St. Mark's square. We then received in depth information about the buildings and statues we saw in the square. We were on our own for 4 hours and had a wonderful lunch in a small cafe and then toured the Doge's Palace museum. Afterwards we met up with our tour guide and decided to take a water taxi through the Grand Canal, which was a wonderful end to our trip. This was a great one day tour we took as a side trip during our 10 day stay in Slovenia. Very worthwhile and we learned so much about the Venetian culture and were able to get a good introduction to the city. Would have been impossible to see and learn so much in a day if we had gone on our own.
It was a great and well organized tour. We have now experienced Venice! A side issue is that Venice is just getting to popular, over crowed and tourist oriented that the visit was a bit of an anticlimax. THis has nothing to do with Viator.
Venice is a four hour snapshot was perfect for us. The guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. The only downer was the gondola ride. We negotiated 100 Euro for 45 minutes vs 120 E requested. The tariff sign that was hidden under the boat cover stated the cost was in fact 100 Euro for 45 minutes. The trip lasted about 36 minutes and then the gondolier just coasted by the dock for 3-4 minutes before parking. Not Viator's fault, just be aware that Venice is the land of opportunity and rip off artists.
It was a very pleasant and well-paced tour. The fact that the tour terminates at Ljubljana Castle makes things even better. Our tour guide Meta was very kind and professional.
This was a great taste of Venice, We were able to do just enough things to get the feel of Venice. Our tour guy walked us through to St. Marks square and then gave us ample time to explore on our own.....Just wonderful
Nice tour but rotten weather the day we went.
