Traveler Tips

There is a LOT of driving involved getting to the Cotswolds, from the Cotswolds to Oxford and then back to London.
Expect to be on the bus for most of the day, but we enjoyed seeing the beautiful scenery as we drove along.
Be aware, that the guide does not take you around the towns that you stop in.

Great day trip from London
Rebecca_C, Jun 2022
John the tour guide was great! Entertaining and knowledgeable. Got to see the beautiful countryside and the travel was easy and enjoyable.
Beautiful homes & great guide
Autumn_T, Jun 2022
Our guide Graham was professional, witty & considerate. Informative & told many funny stories. Talked enough & not too much. Played music when he didn't talk. The stone homes are lovely! Just wish it wasn't so crowded
Child friendly.
Lily_S, Jun 2022
Lovely tour with Graham. My kids and I really enjoyed our time. Like most people mention, it is not nearly enough time. It’s just a taste of the locations. We will definitely return to stay longer at each of them. My kids are 7 & 5 and did great. Enough time between stops to rest.
Wonderful trip to see the countryside
Marilyn_H, Jun 2022
Dan was terrific. He told us some London facts as we left the city and then let us rest or just enjoy the landscape as we drove to Oxford. Each place we stopped was more enchanting than the next. Easy riding easy walking. Lived it
Too short tour
Diana_W, Jun 2022
We had originally purchased an all day in the Cotswolds but my friend wanted to see Oxford so we changed to a half day Cotswolds and Oxford. We drove in a nice Mercedes van with driver Dan. He was knowledgable, polite and great guide. We didn't have traffic getting there and when we arrived he gave us a map and an 1 and 45 minutes to go walk the town. Oxford and its many colleges, shops, pubs etc was absolutely beautiful. What we didn't know was the short time with which one either had to forgo walking through the sites in order to eat or starve and try see what you could. From there we travelled to Buford. Again, amazingly beautiful village but here we had 45 minutes and that allowed for a walk up and down the Main Street. I managed to scarf a tea and scone with clotted cream and jam in a very old and enduring shop called Huffkins. The staff were not so kind and one had to guess that you have to order first before sitting down or else you will be sitting there. I was hoping for something out of this world with the Cotswold Cream Tea item but it was average tea and average scone. This was nothing to rave about other than the memory of visiting a beautiful village along with stopping and having a tea and scone. The second village was what I was really hoping to spend time in called Bibury. Well we guessed wrong as we had 40 minutes to walk around a stream, snap pics of the iconic 17th century honey colored stone cottages and return to the bus. I had 5 minutes to stop at the small gift shop attached to the fishing farm and bought a decorative coffee/tea cup. Only to find out much of these places sell goods made in China. If anyone reads this I would definitely recommend one iconic place for a day instead of multiple villages/sites tours.
Charming tour
Ellen_P, Jun 2022
Fabulous! Very charming and beautiful tour. Our guide was great and the small group was a safe environment with the Covid happening.
Disappointing
margaretmiller55, Jun 2022
We took a cab so we would not be late, but the company was late, then told all of waiting that one of the drivers didn't show up and those of us on that bus were cancelled. It was probably a nice tour but we did not get to go.

Disappointment tour
Brenda_T, Jun 2022
Too much time in Oxford, souvenir shops overload. Bilbury was beautiful cotswold village but we had 30 min only. Other than that we flew by and didnt stop for photo shots. Disappointed in that tour. Small bus. Couldn't see over road hedges.
Response from Host, Jun 2022
We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the itinerary. Oxford is a highlight of the tour and we offer 2 hours here as there is so much to see and do. It's really up to individuals how they use this free time, but we recommend visiting some of the key sites such as the Ashmolean Museum and Christ Church. The rest of the day is spent travelling through the Cotswolds and we're sorry that you didn't find the stops here sufficient.
Simple day trip out of th city!
Megan_G, May 2022
We had a great guide/driver, Graham! His excitement made the trip very fun and enjoyable. We enjoyed all of the towns we were able to stop in. I will suggest to do some research on Oxford before you get there. They give you a map and some notes that help. But I would make a plan before you arrive. The other stops require no planning - just enjoy the scenery!
Our driver made this...
Ruth_C, May 2022
Our driver made this experience memorable for us. He was very knowledgeable and engaging. He, Dan, was happy to answer any questions
Wanted more time but a great trip
Ann_H, May 2022
A great trip. Graham our guide was delightful. Oxford needed a guide and more time as there was so much to see and not enough time for a tour.
Not sure it’s worth the money
dominique_F, May 2022
The guide was not well organized and not well prepared. There is not enough time in each location; so no time to see much.
Response from Host, May 2022
Many thanks for your feedback. There is a lot that we fit into this day tour, so it is intended as an overview, giving just a taste of the destinations. The guide should always be organised and prepared - it's disappointing to hear this was not the case and we're sorry for the impact on your experience. We will follow up on this, thank you.
You're paying for a bus ride, not a tour.
hneal864, May 2022
This tour is basically a bus ride to Oxford, where you're given a pamphlet and time to explore (followed by a ride to the Cotswolds and back to the city). We would have liked an actual tour in Oxford and more tome in the cotswolds. On the way there we got a lesson on the education cycle of Uk's rich families which was interesting, but didn't fit the tour.
Response from Host, May 2022
Our tours are with a driver-guide, so the guided tour itself takes part as we journey from place to place. When we arrive at the destinations, we offer free time so that our guests can decide independently what to see and do. We're sorry this was not what you were expecting and appreciate your feedback.
Song along with Samuel
Alfredo_A, May 2022
A day trip well worth it ..enjoyed Oxford and Cotswolds villages ; the driver/narrator Samuel was wonderful and provided great information/history/context to the places visited plus commentary on London and GB at large ; he was very funny and asked for music requests for drive back to London
Beautiful Cotswold
Manu_B, May 2022
Our driver and the guide Dan was terrific. Very helpful and the trip was fantastic. Ample time was give at the Oxford city to see everything as per the map provided. We found the road closed for one the villages so Dan took us to another one which was even better. Enjoyed the tour. Thank you Dan and Viator.
Great tour! Be sure not...
Ryan_M, May 2022
Great tour! Be sure not to pick a graduation day at Oxford though because some stuff will be closed. Other than that, great day!
You should be experienced it.
Nezahat_K, May 2022
I had an amazing day. Our tour guide Dan was gave to us necessary knowledges about our trip from London to Cotswold. l also can say it was peaceful and safe tour thanks to him. I definitely recommend this great experience. Thank you so much Dan!
Nice but hurried tour
Louis_B, May 2022
It was nice to have a knowledgeable driver while feasting on the scenic rolling hills and plains of Cotswold as we sat on the coach en route to our stops . Tour was a rush without the leisure of enjoying a relaxing meal and good tour of the places we stopped
Response from Host, May 2022
Many thanks for your feedback. There is a lot to fit into this tour and we try to strike the right balance of getting a good overview of the Cotswolds and providing enough time to enjoy the destinations. We're glad that you enjoyed the scenery and commentary from our guide, but we're sorry that you felt rushed.
Cotswolds are worth it!
Barbara_G, May 2022
Lots to see and good amount of time. Driver was thoughtful and shared info about locations. Stops often but bus is snug so don’t bring a lot of stuff.

Paul_B, May 2022
Driver was humorous and had good stories about Oxford and the Cotswolds. He gave the appropriate amount of time for the locations.
