What You Can Expect

Royal London Walking Tour Including Early Access to the Tower of London and Changing of The Guard

Enjoy exploring The Tower of London

Arrive at the Tower of London in the morning, and head inside with your early access ticket. Beating the crowds that appear later in the day, you’ll be one of the first inside the site. See the opening ceremony performed by the Beefeater guards, and then explore on your own. Highlights include the Jewel House — home to the Crown Jewels — along with the East Wall Walk, Medieval Palace, Traitors' Gate and the Tower Green: site of many an execution.
Late, at a prearranged time, meet your guide outside the tower and head to the pier. Hop aboard a Thames River cruise boat, and glide along the river into central London. Have your camera ready to capture snaps of some of London’s legendary landmarks as you go; Shakespeare’s Globe, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and St Paul’s Cathedral are all on the route.
From the pier at Embankment, walk with your guide to Horse Guard’s Parade or Buckingham Palace. See the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony, carried out by the red-coated soldiers of the Household Cavalry or Queen’s Foot Guard.
Continue to a vantage spot outside Buckingham Palace to see the balcony where the British Royal Family stand at events, and then bid your guide goodbye.
Please note: If the weather is poor on the day, the timing of the Changing of the Guard may be changed. In the event of this happening, this element of the experience will be replaced with an extended walking tour.

We met Gavin, our tour leader at 8:15am near the Tower of London on 4/6/18 and he launched immediately into the rules of the game to ensure we could see everything at the Tower, along the Thames River to Buckingham and at the changing of the Royal Guard. He definitely knew how to lead a group and, because we were the first of the day to do the Tower, we did not face crowds and were able to follow his guidelines for seeing all the special sites, including the Royal Jewels, with much knowledge of the history and importance of the Tower and grounds. The staff in charge at the Tower was especially informative and humorous. Gavin then led us to the Riverboat and pointed out sites along the way to Buckingham Palace area. This was a special surprise for us. Although we had to walk at quite a pace, Gavin knew exactly what to show us and how to get us to good spots for viewing all the action with the horses, soldiers and pomp and circumstance. He explained everything!! We felt quite knowledgeable and entertained as we viewed the rituals. He also took us through the parks nearby and as the tour finished, he volunteered to take photos and advise us on places for lunch. We took him up on both...the photo was a perfect memory and our lunch was delicious. Gavin was a delightful and knowledgeable tour master and we felt fortunate to be with his group. 5 stars for this tour!

This was a great tour! Getting to the Tower first thing in the morning is the way to go. Five stars to our guide, Gavin. He was very personable and knowledgeable and kept the group on schedule. He made sure we made the best of the four hours.

Awesome tour. Our original tour guide spoke too softly at times to understand her. However, another Viator guide was adjacent to ours so we switched to her and she was amazing. Her name was Amber and we enjoyed her very much. Fortunately, we figured how to change to her channel on the 10 minute Thames boat ride.

What a fantastic tour! Seeing the Tower of London before the crowds arrive is an amazing experience. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and our walking tour was top notch. His timing was perfect and we were able to see an incredible amount of key highlights during this portion of the tour. He knew where to position us for great views of the changing of the horse guard as well as the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. I highly recommend this tour!

At busy times, early access to Tower of London would be a must. Not too busy at this time. Our tour guide was wonderful, telling us exactly where to stand for the best photo opportunities. Good way to see a large amount of London in 1/2 a day

Must see!!!! We were a part of an old tradition that no one else waiting outside could see. Got to take our time seeing the jewels since we were the first let into the castle. Wish we had a little more time to check out the grounds. every penny!!!
