Traveler Tips

If you are going in winter bus tours are not heated and it can be quite cold so layer up.
That's ok if you're hopping off the bus, but it was a bit rainy and windy and most people were staying on the bus.

Lack of Bus Stop Location Detail
Rick_L, Jun 2023
The locations of the Big Bus Stops were not clarified and should have been. We had to spend some signficant extra time locating where we should get on the tour.
Long days long ride bad traffic
GianL_O, Jun 2023
We also rode the river tour from stop 16 back to Westminster. The second day was a bit taxing as it took almost 3 hours to get through the city and traffic past. What we had already seen on the first day. very tiring. For this reason we decided to not continue the tour bus. And took a regular city bus back to our hotel. Much quicker.
Good most times
CareyH, Jun 2023
Most of the time the trips were outstanding but one trip we had a driver that got confused and ran around in a circle. Great way to see London and they do in depth where you desire to visit and spend more time
Waste of time and money.
Enrique_R, Jun 2023
It was a waste of time and money because of the traffic you spend all day in traffic jams, and it takes all the to go around the route. Would never recommend better to go walking or take taxis to each particular destination and do all the sightseeing around never. Never again would I take this bus in London.
Not Good.
Todd_H, Jun 2023
My wife and I had just "hopped on" for the first time earlier today near Buckingham Palace. We climbed the narrow spiral stairs and found 2 empty seats up top and sat down. There were small empty plastic zip lock bags littered all around our seats on the floor. After waiting several minutes without moving, we decided to hop back off and walk. My wife slipped one of the plastic baggies that was lying on the staircase about half way down. She landed hard on her back and elbows along with a hard shot from a step to the back of her head. All of the passengers gasped and looked concerned, but nobody offered to help. That's ok. People aren't required to be decent. But the driver on the other hand should have showed a little concern while she was laying there. He was completely aware that she was hurt. He heard the loud thump and looked right at her. Not a word. Nothing.
Riding Around London
Linda_M, Jun 2023
Really enjoyed the commentary explaining where we were and the stories told. It was a good experience and easy to get around London to see so much
Overall great- one rude driver
Paige_T, Jun 2023
This is a great option for getting around and seeing what you want at your own pace. We did have one rude driver who tried to argue that our tickets weren’t real even though we had been riding all day, had us get off the bus at the next stop, just for the manager at the stop to scan our tickets and tell him to let us back on. He was switched out at the next stop for a driver that was much friendlier. Other than that, an excellent time.

Mandy was super helpful and this was the best way to see all the POI. The river cruise was amazing. Strongly recommend
Worst hop on hop off go with anyone else
Corey_R, Jun 2023
Worst bus in town! No room over crowded every bus full people standing on top and bottom. Drivers keep say song there is room up top even when they can see the camera clearly from their seat. No warning on last ride got dumped across town and had to taxi back! Waited for 3 hrs for a bus with a seat.
Decent overview of London
juliaflaherty08, May 2023
This is the best way to see London in a casual and flexible manner. It’s a decent value for a 24-hour pass. I’d recommend using it your first or second day to give you a preview of anything and everything you want to spend more time doing. This tour will give you a good overview of what’s out there. I wish it were a person giving the tour rather than the audio clips—they weren’t always very accurate or engaging.

Don't do it
Todd_B, May 2023
Do not spend your money on this. The bus sat in traffic more than driving. It didn't stay on the route it was suppose to and nobody had a clue where we were. At one point the driver just stopped the bus in traffic and took a smoke break. After that we just got off and walked. We made much better time and saw the things the bus was suppose to drive by. Complete waste of time and money.
The best way to see London
Darren_W, May 2023
The best way to travel London. Easy to navigate and the staff are so friendly and helpful. A must to do
Not organized properly. Bus stops not clearly marked.
Gregory_H, May 2023
Was able to ride once within the 48 hour period. After arriving at the closest bus stop we could not get on, due to the bus being full. Then had to wait another 20 minutes for the next bus. When it arrived it was so full it was standing only. After four stops we sat down but separated. After several more stops we were finally able to sit together. Unfortunately the loop was complete and did not want start over. Later that afternoon we could not find a bus stop.

Easy to do on a 6 hour layover!
Yolanda_M, May 2023
Quick and easy way to see the city! I had a 6 hour layover in Gatwick and was able to book In advance take the train from Gatwick and then hop on the bus see about 10 stops before. I made it back to the airport so that I did not miss my connecting flight.

jane_w, May 2023
My s9ns and I had a great time on the bus. It stopped close to where we wanted to go. I needed to use a walker/scooter due to bad joints. Most of the drivers were excellent I would highly recommend the use of The Big Bus
Bad experience
Huong_Q, May 2023
Horrible experience. Can’t get on the bus at all. Waited long time at the bus stop but it didn’t stop. Try 2 different stops on the app and still can’t get on. The app is not accurate or informative at all.
Sadly due to the Ride...
Lisa_O, May 2023
Sadly due to the Ride London bike race many roads were closed. The bus kept being diverted off the tour. A refund would be appreciated.
Disappointed
Lorraine_M, May 2023
Although travelling via open top bus & river cruise is a great day out I found this company didn’t communicate information well. I wasn’t informed there would be road closures 5 days from booking .
Not Happy
Carla_E, May 2023
The idea of the Hop off Hop On Bus is a good idea, I just was not happy with the information supplied by Big Bus London Hop-On Hop-Off Tour and River Cruise. I found the App was not very friendly, and did not give good locations for the Bus Stops. I even received wrong information from the employee's about the various stops. Additionally, I did not receive proper information about the tickets for the River Boat Cruise. I must of asked 4 employees before I received the proper information. I was not happy with this company. There are many choices of Bus companies; choose someone else.
Hop on Hop off disappointment
NormaJ_C, May 2023
Unfortunately, the bus route indicates red stops and blue stops, but they don't necessarily adhere to the route. We got on a red bus at stop 16 expecting to ride for a while and then get off near our hotel at stop 1. Part way through, the driver said he wasn't going to stop at 1 through 3 and we should get off and catch a blue bus instead. The agents at stop 16 had assured us we could take either bus. It appears to be a very unorganized operation. There are many companies offering Hop on Hop off. Suggest choosing one of the others.
