Superb tour. I enjoyed hearing about the history of the various locations as our guide, Danielle, presented them in a lively and engaging manner. Also, we were fortunate to to be in London when the tour also included Buckingham Palace. The tour gives insight into the history of the monarchy, and touring Buckingham Palace was eye-opening with all the various pieces of artwork- from canvases, to sculptures, to China, etc.

This was one of the highlights for trip away. Not open all year round we were lucky to get tickets to the final day and what wonderful time we had. The guide was engaging and handled a few rouge people along the way, who wanted to join our group without a booking. He did this without missing a beat, very impressed. Our only complaint was the wait to see the changing of the guard as there wasn't anywhere to sit down. The Palace tour was everything and more would highly recommend.
Our tour guide was Alex. She was amazing, had a great personality, and shared her favorite stories/things about Buckingham Palace. We went inside Buckingham Palace, saw the Queen's gifts. The amount of time spent in Buckingham Palace was 2 hours, if I remember correctly. The Afternoon Tea was my favorite part of the tour because it tied everything together.
Awesome! Great guide, beautiful place. We lucked out and the weather was incredible. Had to do the high tea we're in England, right? but not really necessary.
So glad we were able to book this tour. Our guide, Amber, led us to where we could watch the horse guards parade nd changing of the guards. She provided informative and helpful commentary that we could hear very well through headsets. The tour of the state rooms at Buckingham Palace was self-guided and audio was provided. The afternoon tea at St. Ermin's was excellent.
This was a great tour..the man who did it was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of facts...but you have to walk to a hotel for the tea..and its along way
Everything on my trip to Buckingham Palace, from the directions on where to meet, to the spots we were told to stand to see some of the bigger moments, to the incredible hotel we had tea. My tour guide was Marnie. She was personable, knowledgeable and overall was an incredible tour guide. While we didn't get a choice of tour guides I'm glad I was put in a group with her.
When we got to the area where the guards on horses do their changeover she put us in the perfect position to get great photos of the horses coming by. When we went towards Buckingham Palace to watch the band and the changing of the guard, she put us in the optimal spot to see the band walk by. And when anyone had questions, not only did she have the answers, but she had humor to them as well.
My only piece of advice is if all you care about is Buckingham Palace and you are someone who likes to read every little detail, listen to everything on the audio tour and learn every little nugget you can, then I wouldn't do the afternoon tea. I spent 90 minutes in the Palace and could have spent another hour to hour and a half. I felt rushed towards the end to meet the group for tea. However, if you're someone who wants the full experience, have tea where they provide you with enough food that it could be considered a meal and don't care about every small detail in the Palace then I recommend doing this entire experience.
This was my first tour in a tour group and it was an A experience and an outstanding tour guide in Marnie.
We arrived at the meeting point a few mins late but the organizer waited for us to show up and we were escorted to our tour group.
Gavin, our tour guide was amazing, he is such a sweetheart, listen to him when he says to pick up the tour group pace as he's doing this to ensure that you arrive at the next portion to have the perfect view of things.
Expect a lot of walking
Afternoon tea was great, amazing hotel location with such history
Gavin provided a personal touch and connected with every member of the tour group, he really went above and beyond to make sure everyone was happy.
This particular tour was outstanding having started with a walk through St. James Park, having seen the 'changing of the guard', and on to Buckingham Palace. After skipping the lines we enjoyed a self guided tour of the palace, then we walked to St. Ermin's Hotel for tea. The tea was exceptional and a tremendous treat after the walking tour. Our guide was entertaining, and shared an extensive amount of history related to Buckingham Palace, with a few stories to remember. Just a great day!
This combination tour was we'll organise, with the guide initially paring us with a 'buddy' to protect against getting lost. We were directed to best vantage points and provided with a fun and informative commentary. From the stirring sounds and sights of the Changing of the Guard, to the splendour of the Palace and the delight of joining new friends for a delicious High Tea, this tour was definitely worth doing when in London.
Very organized from start to finish. Josh our tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. Took us to a great spot to see the changing of the guard! Afternoon tea was wonderful, it was a great way to end the day. Before leaving! Josh made sure that everyone knew where they were going and how to get there. It was a great day!
Buckingham Palace can be a very chaotic place, so I was very grateful to have a guide Josh who took away as much of that chaos as possible. He negotiated us along to a relatively uncrowded segment of the exterior for the changing of the guards. Got us there in plenty of time of photos. Then he ushered us in for the self guided Palace tour. One could ogle the artwork alone all day, but the audio tour and the crowd helps pace you so that you have a little time to shop before meet up time. Then a nice walk to the hotel for a very nice tea. Plenty of variety and a beautify space.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable.. The visits and tea were great.
This was a very good tour. It included not only Buckingham Palace, but the area around it, and I learned some of the history of the royal family. It was very interesting to learn about the full history of Buckingham Palace and to see the original palace at the end of the tour. I never knew how much parkland was around the palace.
Our guide, Gavin was very informative, polite, curteous and friendly. He was able to tell us all about things of interest around the area and with the right level of humour. The choice of St Ermins for low tea was excellent. Thanks
We went to London at the end of July 2017. The tour was conducted through City Wonders and our tour guide Josh was AMAZING! No one tells you this, but the Changing of the Guard Ceremony can change at the last minute and announcements are not made to let tourists know this information. This happened to us on our tour day because there was a bicycle race going on in London that weekend that closed many roads. Fortunately for us, City Wonders knew this was possible and sent us to the right location for the ceremony When we arrived at Buckingham Palace after the ceremony, there were still tourists waiting for the ceremony to begin... ABSOLUTELY NO ONE TELLS YOU WHEN AND WHERE THE CEREMONY CHANGES! Without our guided tour, I would have been one of these people. To be perfectly honest, the Changing of the Guard was very dull. When it is changed, the only thing that happens is the new guards ride in on horses to switch places with the current guards. Nothing exciting at all.
Next we walked through St. James Park to Buckingham Palace. Gorgeous park and a great walk that allows the guide to give some fun facts, history, and point out interesting details! The Palace did not disappoint on the inside! So beautiful and the guided audio tour is very interesting. I highly recommend traveling to London when the State Rooms are open!
The last part of the tour was afternoon tea. I went with my parents, so my dad was not too excited about eating frilly food and drinking hot tea, BUT he loved the tea he ordered and enjoyed the food! It was very filling and a wonderful experience to say you did while in London. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very nice. Please know this was a LOT of walking! We walked 7.2 miles according to my phone that day! Probably the most we walked in London!
The tour was a fantastic experience which was helped with a fantastic tour guide.
Marnie Marnas, the tour guide from City Wonders was the best tour guide ever! She really took care of the tour group as a whole, was very knowledgeable about the Palace and the surrounding sites. The time I spent on the tour was well worth it. Thank you Marnie!
We were very pleased with the guide and the tour. The audio headsets worked well and the guide was very knowledgeable. The palace was truly royal and wonderful. The tea was tasty and more than we could eat.
This tour was absolutely worth every penny. We were warmly greeted by our tour guide, Josh. He was both informative and humorous. He led us casually through the maze of crowds, effortlessly and knowledgeably, giving us insights, information, and the most incredible positions for seeing EVERYTHING we wanted to see, not to mention fabulous places to take photos, as were in the front! We saw the guards on horseback, the changing of the guard, incredible outside palace views, and we were most privileged to see the interior of the palace, as the queen was on holiday! After this marvelous experience, we walked to St. Ermin's Hotel for a fabulous afternoon tea that was delicious, served in a beautiful fashion, and set in a quintessential old London hotel. This whole experience was the most fantastic element of our London stay! Thank you.
An incredible once in a lifetime experience! Got to tour the inside of Buckingham Palace which you can only do when the Queen is on holiday - usually August/September and it's only been the last few years. At the time, the fantastic exhibit of Queen Elizabeth's clothing and hats from the time that she was born! Getting to see her wedding and coronation dress along with other memorable outifts was a dream come true!
Tea was a loooooong walk away and it was pooring down rain but it was fine not the best nor the worst I had in London.
