This is the trip to take if you are a Downton Abbey fan. First stop was Cogge's Farm where all of the farm shots were taken. Then Bampton, which was the village of Downton. And then the castle. Great trip that lasted about 11 hours. Guide, Andy, was great and very knowledgeable.
This was fabulous! Our tour guide proudly told us that she wrote this tour for Viator. It was excellent. We had 3 stops and plenty of time at each one. The castle was last, we had 2 1/2 hours. It was a wonderful fun day!
Highly recommend this trip to any Downton fan! Our tour guide Debbie was wonderful, very friendly and full of lots of Downton trivia. Even my non-Downton fan husband enjoyed the day.
Fantastic and very informative tour guide, absolutely loved it.
For Downton Abbey fans, this is a must. I expected that Highclere Castle would be the highlight of this tour - and it is indeed beautiful - but the other aspects are great too... the Downton grounds, Yew TreeFarm, and the town. The trip left on time and even though there are 3 locales, there is plenty of time to see things in as much detail as die-hard fans like me could want. Debbie, who originated the tour, was our guide and she is very animated and attentive to people's needs. Lots of inside gossip, too. Oh, and you'll be able to eat well as there are cafes and tea rooms - makes it a complete day!
Wonderful guide, with lots of knowledge. Fun day seeing all the places we loved on the show.
This was a fabulous tour and one we will never forget. Our tour guide, Debbie, was so knowledgeable about the castle, the village, the farm and the actors in the series. There was absolutely nothing negative about the trip from the time we were picked up to the time the trip was over.
Terrific tour and very good tour guide Debbie. My only criticism is that I was told on my booking that drop off would be back to the same pick up location. We were dropped near Victoria Station, involving getting the tube back to accommodation near the pick up spot.
I totally recommend it. Our tour guide had an in-depth knowledge of both the castle, the history behind it and the series. Fans of Downton Abbey will definitely enjoy this trip.
This is a great trip for Downton Abbey fans. It takes you to three filming locations, including Highclere Castle, and our tour guide, Debbie, was awesome. I would highly recommend it.
Our TD was Debbie and she was terrific......she knew so much about the show Downton Abbey and the Highclere Castle .......she made the trip a complete success . Our driver Joseph was wonderful negotiating the narrow streets in the small towns!!!!
It was a pricey tour but worth every penny!!!! My husband and I truly enjoyed it very much.
The tour itself and the tour guide were both excellent. Meeting up to start the tour needs work. Better communication. Still give 5 stars for the overall experience. A must for Downton Abbey fans.
I am devote DA fan so this tour caught my eye and held me in anticipation until we joined the tour coach at Great Portland Street and headed to Oxfordshire. Deb our guide was priceless - what she didn't know about DA - including behind the scenes - wasn't worth knowing.
The tour is great and we were prepared with the fact that Highclere Castle tends to downplay its role in the period drama. There are some subtle interpretation boards in the Castle about certain rooms however the focus is very much on the family home and Egyptian exhibition - don't miss that!
The Downton Abbey tour was fantastic. Our tour guide was not only a walking and talking Downton historian,he was also really a nice guy.. The only part of the trip that I think was unnecessary was the last leg, which took us to the farm . That made the day too long.
Such a beautiful place! We had such a great time and the tour guide Debbie was so amazing. She was so happy and delightful! We really enjoyed this tour! The house is gorgeous and the landscape is perfect. We had such a great time!! I would recommend!!

We enjoyed stopping at both Cogges Farm and Highclere Castle. However, we would have preferred spending a little more time at Highclere to do more gazing and shopping. It took a bit too long to eat lunch at Cogges. Perhaps they could set up several food purchase areas. There was a long wait time to even order lunch. Food was very good.
Highclere Castle was fun. Greeters were gracious and helpful. Since it was a nice day, it was wonderful to walk around the grounds a bit. Well worth the visit for Downton Abbey fans.
Tour guide was very good. It would be nice if she could have a photo from the show of every place she pointed out was in the show. She had a few, but not all.
It was great that the bus had a rest room. This was important for older people and should be conitnued for full day tours.
Our guide, Debbie Gerrans, was knowledgeable, informative, personable, energetic, and possessed of a good sense of what her audience needed. I believe I got every penny's worth of the cost of the tour.
Andrew was charming, efficient, considerate, and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the tour except for the driver running out of gas making us an hour late returning to London. Andrew handled the situation very professionally. I was actually very surprised that the tour manager/guide was so good. Thank you for a delightful day.
Hi I had a great trip, lived our guide Andy he was funny and gave us a lot of info on the cast and the locals. The bus was very clean and the driver was very good, his name was Idris I believe. The castle was fantastic and now I can check this off my bucket list. The weather was not very good but hey that's life. I would strongly recommend this tour. Will book other tours with Viatour. Thanks again for a great time.
