What You Can Expect

England in One Day: Stonehenge, Bath, the Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip from London

Visit Shakespeare's birthplace, with Champagne and scones served in his picturesque garden in summer

Depart your central London hotel or central meeting point by air-conditioned coach, and journey out into the leafy English countryside.

Make your first stop at UNESCO World Heritage-listed Stonehenge, one of the world’s best-known prehistoric monuments. Rising up from Salisbury Plain, this remarkable stone circle dates back some 4,500 years and is generally thought to have been a temple that marked the movements of the sun.

On arrival, head inside the site complex with its visitor center, collect an audio-guide, and visit the massive stone circle to experience its size and symmetry close up. Ponder the mysteries that surround the edifice, and learn the theories as to how the stones were transported and then raised here.

Next, continue to the delightful, UNESCO-protected spa city of Bath, famous for its elegant Georgian 18th-century architecture and connections with 18th- and 19th-century novelist Jane Austen. Explore the city center with your guide to admire the honey-stoned mansions, terraces and bridges, and enjoy a little free time to stroll around the cobbled streets at leisure.

Back aboard your coach, travel deep into the Cotswolds, a region of rolling hills, green pastures and stone-built villages that’s considered perhaps the loveliest in England. Soak up the gorgeous views of the lush fields honeycombed with dry stone walls, and pass through bustling market towns crowned by impressive churches.

Arrive in the charm-laden town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of England’s greatest playwright, William Shakespeare, and home to the famous Royal Shakespeare Company. Take in the half-timbered houses and Avon River that winds through the town. Then, enjoy glass of Champagne and traditional English scones in the garden of Shakespeare's childhood home (or indoors in winter), and stretch your legs around Stratford’s quaint center.

When your visit to Stratford ends, return to your coach and drive back to London where your tour concludes.

Please note: on busy days, the order of the activities as shown above may be subject to change.

David was absolutely amazing with his in-depth knowledge on all things British right from the Monarchy, to the civil wars, Shakespeare. The tour was made especially enjoyable because he kept going the extra mile to make sure everyone was getting the best of the tour.

Time spent at stratfort-upon-avon is too short. Another hour to explore the place would have been appreciated. Likewise with Bath and shorter time at Stonehenge. A well spent whole day and value for money tour.

If you have limited time in UK, this is a must trip. The information is incredible. It would be very difficult to see all these sites without this tour. They get tickets and directed us to the highlights that we otherwise would not have known about.

I was traveling with a friend and we had limited time to take in the sights of the English countryside. I think this tour was the right choice for us. The countryside makes for beautiful viewing as your travel between destinations. Stratford-upon-Avon was picturesque as well as historically interesting. Touring the house where Shakespeare grew up was quite a treat. Bath was lovely as well and of particular interest to my friend who paid to tour the Roman baths. I saw what was available for free, which was still quite worth seeing, and we both drank the water. Having seen Stonehenge represented in many videos/movies, seeing it in person was almost overwhelming. Again the beauty and hundreds of years of history was awe-inspiring. I fully recommend this tour to anyone with limited time trying to maximize their English countryside experience.

This was a great tour to see many things in one day! It was a long day, with a lot of time spent on a bus, but there would have been no other way for us to have been able to see Stratford, Bath, and Stonehenge. Our tour guide was great as well.

The tour was excellent. I LOVED the tour guide. I would have liked to have spent much more time in Bath. Maybe extend the tour by 2 hours to give the extra time there would be exceptional.
It's definitely a do not miss!!!!
