What You Can Expect

England in One Day: Stonehenge, Bath, the Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon Day Trip from London

Visit Shakespeare's birthplace, with Champagne and scones served in his picturesque garden in summer

Depart your central London meeting point by air-conditioned coach, and journey out into the leafy English countryside.

Make your first stop at UNESCO World Heritage-listed Stonehenge, one of the world’s best-known prehistoric monuments. Rising up from Salisbury Plain, this remarkable stone circle dates back some 4,500 years and is generally thought to have been a temple that marked the movements of the sun.

On arrival, head inside the site complex with its visitor center, collect an audio-guide, and visit the massive stone circle to experience its size and symmetry close up. Ponder the mysteries that surround the edifice, and learn the theories as to how the stones were transported and then raised here.

Next, continue to the delightful, UNESCO-protected spa city of Bath, famous for its elegant Georgian 18th-century architecture and connections with 18th- and 19th-century novelist Jane Austen. Explore the city center with your guide to admire the honey-stoned mansions, terraces and bridges, and enjoy a little free time to stroll around the cobbled streets at leisure.

Back aboard your coach, travel deep into the Cotswolds, a region of rolling hills, green pastures and stone-built villages that’s considered perhaps the loveliest in England. Soak up the gorgeous views of the lush fields honeycombed with dry stone walls, and pass through bustling market towns crowned by impressive churches.

Arrive in the charm-laden town of Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of England’s greatest playwright, William Shakespeare, and home to the famous Royal Shakespeare Company. Take in the half-timbered houses and Avon River that winds through the town. Then, enjoy glass of Champagne and traditional English scones in the garden of Shakespeare's childhood home (or indoors in winter), and stretch your legs around Stratford’s quaint center.

When your visit to Stratford ends, return to your coach and drive back to London where your tour concludes.

Please note: on busy days, the order of the activities as shown above may be subject to change.

The places we stopped on this tour were quaint and beautiful. It's like going back in time. I wish we could have stopped in Cotswolds, otherwise the tour was perfect.

I'm kinda torn about these sweeping one-day tours. I like to settle into a place for a few days and really explore it. But sometimes it's just not an option to settle into several places on one trip, so you can either see things on a whirlwind trip like this one or not see them at all. I'm so glad I chose to see it!

To be really honest, most of our time was spent on the tour bus. But it was comfortable, and our tour guide was such a pleasure: super knowledgeable about British history, and he was an actual actor, so he performed Shakespeare for us as we were approaching Stratford-upon-Avon! Such a treat. We didn't stay in Stratford for very long, but that was okay, because there wasn't a ton to see. If I could have stayed anywhere longer it would have been Bath. Dreamy. And our guide gave us great suggestions for food and activities so we could make the most of our time. Stone Henge was magnificent, especially with the audio guide to provide more context.

All in all, this was just a really wonderful experience. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't have several weeks to spend in England, but wants to get out of London for a bit.

This tour was wonderful! It certainly made for a full day, but worth it! In fact, I wish we would have had a bit more time at each stop. Our tour guide Jason was very knowledgeable and was very pleasant all day. The coach was very nice and clean. I definitely recommend this tour for those looking to get out of the city and see a bit of countryside. Stonehenge was stunning and Bath and Stratford were unique and offered plenty to do for the amount of time you had in each village.

Our tour guide, Magnus, was amazing!! He was very knowledgeable of the surrounding areas, and gave little tips, hints, and history along the way. Due to the trip already being 12 hours long, it's almost impossible to imagine spending any longer at the stops, but at times I found myself rushing through the attractions in the allotted amount of time given. If you are on a tight schedule though, during your vacation, and only have one day to spare to visit these amazing attractions, this is the perfect way to see everything. Can't recommend this trip highly enough!!

Good tour! It is a very long day350 miles and 11hours but well worth it because you get to see so much in one day! The tour company was very organized and got us going on time. Got to spend a good amount of time in each location and history was given to us prior to the arrival at each location. I would definitely recommend this tour to others

Joined this tour from a central location - Victoria.
Wonderful long day combining 3 key locations. The drives were long but very scenic with excellent commentary from our guide I think his name was David, not just on the locations but on English history, royalty and way of life as well. Very enjoyable.

Enough time provided on all locations and we were able to get a glimpse of all key attractions.
If you have time, spend a night at Stratford with a show at the Swan! and Bath, we might do so next time.
But if you have only 1 day, this is absolutely recommended. I hope David will be your tour guide too!
