What You Can Expect

London Grim Reaper Walking Tour

Visit Old Spitafields Market on your walking tour

Your chilling adventure begins in the evening at Tower Hill in central London. Meet your local guide and set off on a journey through the dark recesses of London’s horrible history. Steel yourself for legendary tales of disease, wickedness and death!

Your 2.5-hour tour winds along the north bank of the River Thames, passing the ominous – and reputedly haunted – Tower of London. Learn the tower’s history as a prison and gruesome execution place, and hear tale of prisoners like Anne Boleyn – Henry VIII's unfortunate second wife – who met her end there in 1536. Walk on to St Katharine’s Docks, once a bustling commercial port that earned a foul reputation as the entry point of the bubonic plague and the Black Death.

Afterwards, leave the riverside to wander into the East End. As you explore the warren of dimly lit alleys and backroads, hear about the area’s most famous tyrants like the Kray twins, brutal mobsters who terrorized London in the mid-20th century, and the London Burkers who made a business of body snatching. Walk through Whitechapel where Jack the Ripper stalked his victims more than 125 years ago. Follow the murder trail, hearing facts about the crime scenes and the women who were brutally assaulted with chilling clinical precision. Discuss theories and suspects that have come and gone, leaving the Jack the Ripper story a great unsolved mystery.

Conclude with a stop at Old Spitalfields Market – the site of a massive plague pit – and hear about the sinister mistreatment of patients at Bedlam, London’s first psychiatric hospital. Your tour ends at Liverpool Street with plenty of time for some (more light-hearted) evening activities.

Our tour guide was Nicholas. We did this tour as a family group ranging in age from 12 to 70. Everyone had a great time, our guide made it fun and interesting enough to keep everyone interested and entertained for the 2 hours we spent! A great way to see parts of London I had never seen before, highly recommend the tour, and the guide we had! Excellent!!

Rachel the guide knows her stuff and provided a very interesting and at times funny tour , what i would say though is bring your running shoes as its a very fast paced walk and as a slow walker I found at times I was almost running to keep up lol

OK, but the tour guide could have been better. Seemed to drag on near the end.

This is the second time of submitting a review for this tour. It was to rushed with important bits missed out. We stood at a corner and were told about the Kray twins our reason for booking the tour for about 3-4 mins, the guide then pointed down the road and said the Blind Beggar is down there and that was where the Krays were from, lets move on. Our guide was Canadian and had no passion for the subject as other guides have had on previous tours we have done.
