What You Can Expect

London to Stonehenge Shuttle Bus & Independent Day Trip

Stonehenge, England

Select your preferred departure time, and join up with your air-conditioned coach in central London. Then, sit back and relax as you set off on your approximately 2-hour drive to Stonehenge.

Rising from vast Salisbury Plain, this spectacular ancient monument dates back some 4,500 years. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986, it centers on a ring of giant standing stones and is generally believed to have served as a prehistoric temple that marked out the movements of the sun, although its purpose is still wreathed in conjecture.

As you travel, hear interesting facts about this iconic place and its long-ago spiritual importance from your informative driver. Then, on arrival, collect your included entrance tickets and audio-guide, and enjoy ample free time to explore the Stonehenge site and visitor center, whose facilities include exhibitions and a café, as you wish.

Perhaps ride the visitor shuttle or follow walkways to the monument to view it close up. Marvel at this prehistoric masterpiece, and meander around the perimeter as you ponder how the stones were transported here, and then raised and used.

Stroll around the visitor center to learn how and why Stonehenge was built through the cutting-edge audiovisuals and stunning collections of ancient exhibits, including stone axes and burial treasures. Be sure, too, to view the replica Neolithic houses to discover how the Neolithic peoples of the area lived and worked.

After nearly two hours of exploring, reconvene with your coach and relax on your ride back to London. Your trip then ends with a drop-off at the original starting point.

This trip was awesome! Although I wish there was a little more time. I didn and #39;t give myself enough time to visit the visitor and #39;s center. Other than that, I still enjoyed the independent day trip.

Great simple trip to Stonehenge and back. It takes 2 hour drive each way. Our driver was very safe. We had about 1 hour and 45 minutes at Stonehenge which is barely enough time to see it all. I don't' know how you could possibly see it all with other trips allowing just one hour there, especially if forced to wait in lines. I selected this trip because I wanted more time at Stonehenge than tours combining Bath, etc. We departed London at 2pm. I really liked going to Stonehenge later in the day. It was less crowded and the lighting on the stones as the sun was setting was beautiful. We did not have to wait in line at all for the shuttle buses. If we had waited in line or walked 15 minutes each way it really would have cut into our time there. We had time to quickly browse the gift shop and a quick walk through in the Visitor's Centre. The Visitor's Centre is new and definitely worth a visit if you have time. I was concerned that I would be missing out on the Stonehenge experience if we didn't have time to see it. The audio guide provided did an excellent job of explaining the stones, I didn't feel like I had to do further reading at the Visitor's Centre. The real experience is with the stones and the rest is just bonus.

Martin and Premium tours was fantastic. Great sense of humor and full of random, interesting facts as you drive by London and beyond! Excellent value, especially if you are low on time. Our toilet was out of order, so use one beforehand. Comfortable coach. Make sure you realize you're literally going to see just a pile of cool rocks and maybe the huts near the visitor center. If you have time beforehand, go on the tube and 1 or 2 stops away via South Kensington stop is the National History Museum free! cool dinosaurs! from the Victoria tube and coach station. Give yourself plenty of time to walk outside from Victoria tube station to Victoria coach station or else you'll be rushing at least 8-10 minutes. Basic sandwiches etc may be bought at the visitor center, but I just went ahead and brought my own. Audio tour included, sheep sightings around the rocks. : Martin was the best tour guide! THANK YOU!

We took the afternoon bus to Stonehenge, had a pleasant ride through the city and an entertaining bus driver. He talked us through the city telling us interesting things, and then gave us some quiet time. Well done.
We were fortunate to have pleasant weather, and we took our time walking around. We probably could have easily spent another hour there. We thought it was a good trip.
