What You Can Expect

London to Stonehenge Shuttle Bus & Independent Day Trip

Stonehenge, England

Select your preferred departure time, and join up with your air-conditioned coach in central London. Then, sit back and relax as you set off on your approximately 2-hour drive to Stonehenge.

Rising from vast Salisbury Plain, this spectacular ancient monument dates back some 4,500 years. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986, it centers on a ring of giant standing stones and is generally believed to have served as a prehistoric temple that marked out the movements of the sun, although its purpose is still wreathed in conjecture.

As you travel, hear interesting facts about this iconic place and its long-ago spiritual importance from your informative driver. Then, on arrival, collect your included entrance tickets and audio-guide, and enjoy ample free time to explore the Stonehenge site and visitor center, whose facilities include exhibitions and a café, as you wish.

Perhaps ride the visitor shuttle or follow walkways to the monument to view it close up. Marvel at this prehistoric masterpiece, and meander around the perimeter as you ponder how the stones were transported here, and then raised and used.

Stroll around the visitor center to learn how and why Stonehenge was built through the cutting-edge audiovisuals and stunning collections of ancient exhibits, including stone axes and burial treasures. Be sure, too, to view the replica Neolithic houses to discover how the Neolithic peoples of the area lived and worked.

After nearly two hours of exploring, reconvene with your coach and relax on your ride back to London. Your trip then ends with a drop-off at the original starting point.

If you are short on time and want to take a trip to Stonehenge, this trip is the perfect option! We were able to squeeze in this day trip as one of the very last things we booked for our trip- and it was definitely one of the highlights! The half-day trip was perfect. It took us 2 hours to get out of London, to Stonehenge. We spent about an hour and 45 minutes there, which was plenty of time to explore Stonehenge, visit the giftshop, and get something to eat quickly if desired. Malcom was our COACH driver we all learned why it's a coach, and not a bus! and he was amazing. He shared fun facts about London/ England while on the drive, along with some facts about Stonehenge. I would highly recommend taking this trip, and hopefully you get Malcom as your driver!

Best and easiest way to see Stonehenge! We took the early departure and still had part of the afternoon to finish up London sightseeing! If you are traveling to London, don't miss seeing Stonehenge. We even had our concierge arrange for pick up to the bus station. Great Trip and worth a little bit more to not have to try to maneuver a train and a bus to get there on our own.

I'm not much for guided tours, so this was perfect. We were driven out to Stonehenge on a comfortable bus and on the way our driver gave us useful information but once there we were given an audio guide and given two hours to explore Stonehenge on our own and at our own pace. This seemed to be just the right time to really experience this amazing site. Right on time, we went back to our bus and returned to London. Very happy experience all around.

Great tour, the bus driver, Malcom, provided a commentary and entertainment on the way there and back. A definite must when visiting England!

The tour to Stonehenge was awesome! We had about 2 hours at the place and then, there was nothing to do but wait. I read the reviews and was influenced by them that trips to this place in combo with Bath is not enough time. I Say 2 Hours Is Just Too MUCH time. But the trip was great!

It was fantastic! The driver Leonwas exceptional! The tour was late leaving not the driver's fault! but he did his best to get us there before it closed - a major feat! He also was very knowledgeable about the site, the surrounding area, and London, and shared his knowledge with us. Stonehenge itself is a marvel. We have used Viator previously for other tours, and will do so again.

Exactly what it says on the card: the bus takes you there, drops you off, and then returns you home later.

I actually thought Stonehenge would be a disappointment but it turned out to be a really cool thing to see.
