Why Travelers Choose This Tour
This tour combines top-tier Stonehenge and Bath with Lacock: a charming, traditional British village.
Following pickup from central London, travel out of the English capital and through the countryside along an ancient road that was used by the Romans some 2,000 years ago. Pass ancient burial chambers and a 4,000-year-old pyramid on Silbury Hill, as well as traditional pubs, historical monuments, and the eye-catching White Horse hill carvings. First, head to the Stone Age structure of Stonehenge and listen to commentary about the 5,000-year-old monolith. Continue on to Bath and take a city tour of its squares, terraces, and crescents. Visit, too, the famous Roman Baths and learn how in the 18th-century Georgian Era, the wealthy, upper-class arrived from London to take advantage of its supposedly healing waters. Then, enjoy free time for lunch (own expense) before traveling onward to Lacock for a taste of old-world England. Seemingly untouched by modern developments, this charming village has been featured in Cranford, 'Pride and Prejudice,' several of the Harry Potter movies and other films and television series. Follow your guide on a sightseeing tour, and then return to your vehicle for a drive through the Cotswolds hills to Avebury. See a village of thatched cottages in the middle of a huge stone circle before returning to central London.
The best parts of the tour were Ben's anecdotal stories along the way about the monarchy and the history of Great Britain that didn't necessarily have directly to do with the tour itself. They added a lot. My only wish is that we would have been able to spend a bit more time at each place - so fascinating and beautiful!
Tony, our driver and guide was a lot of fun. He kept us on schedule, and added a LOT of information of what we were seeing along the way!
We had a bit of confusion about exactly where to meet the group but we kept asking till we got it sorted out.
This trip fits a lot into a short period of time. Each segment was worth it though. Fun to spend a bit of time in the tiny village of Lacock, the presentation of the Roman Baths was extremely well done and interesting, and Stonehenge was amazing to see.
The guide Oz was absolutely great. Cannot imagine ant to be any better!
Here was problem. We got to pickup place about ten mi utes early. Found our guide who checked us in and said we could board our van. Van had seats for 19 customers. Only seats left were at last row. Well, these have less leg room than other seats and not much window view. Also, it sat higher than the other rows, affording even less of any window view, I asked our guide if there were seats on the van directly behind us. He said yes but we would have to change our itinerary. Not acceptable.
Someone suggested we should have got to pick up point earlier. Two problems there. First, as it was we left our hotel at 7am and really were in no hurry as we had no reason to believe all passengers would not be given suitable seating.
Second, if we had been earlier, some other passenger s would be stuck in those seats.
No way Viator, the booking company should allow their customers to be seated like this.
Great tour. Bath and Stonehenge are really interesting. Lacock was a cute small village, but couldn't see spending more than the hour that we were there. Guide did an awesome job of telling us the history and various facts along the way.
we enjoyed this day trip very much. It was well-timed and managed. All 3 locations we visited-Lacock, Bath and Stonehenge were each very interesting. Our guide Andrew was full of knowledge and very friendly. The bus was very comfortable. We recommend this tour.
The tour guide Tony was very good as was the venue but the transportation was awful. No air conditioning in van on 95 degree day. It was unbearable and inexcusable for this tour company not to provide these guides with functioning vans. We would not book a tour with this company again.
