Make your own way to the Tower of London and meet your guide. Then, start your Viator VIP London tour by heading inside this historical fortress-palace before the doors open to the general public.

Once inside, accompany your guide to meet up with one of the tower’s famous Beefeater guards. Your Beefeater will then take you on a guided tour of the complex, showcasing the highlights of this 11th-century building and its grounds.

As you explore, hear how the tower has served as a royal palace, fortress, prison and execution site, and be treated to the spectacle of the opening ceremony, where members of a military escort march around the tower with the Beefeaters to open the gates.

Stroll along the East Wall Walk for views down over London’s streets, head inside the haunting White Tower and look for the jet-black ravens that have strutted around the complex since the time of Charles II. The king believed that the tower would fall if the birds ever flew from the grounds. In addition, enter the Jewels House to ogle the Crown Jewels — the priceless symbols of Britain’s monarchy.

Having explored here, stroll to nearby St Paul’s Cathedral, the magnificent domed church designed by Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1708. Head into the hushed Triforium, an area typically closed to the public but open to you.

Wander around to see high points, including the St Paul’s library or Geometric Staircase, familiar to movie fans from its starring role in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Take in the wonderful views toward the nave, and then visit the Crypt and famous Whispering Gallery.

Your tour concludes at St Paul’s when you say goodbye to your guide.

Please note: The visit to Jewel House to see the Crown Jewels is self-guided.

Wow! This tour was spectacular! From early admission to The Tower (which is key - you should have seen the crowds coming in when we were leaving at 11 a.m.!), to a great behind-the-scenes tour of St. Paul's (the triforium!) to our charming and knowledgeable guide (we love you Norma!!), this tour was worth every penny!

This tour was well organized, Norma our guide was wonderful! Have early access to the tower was a great experience. While walking to the cathedral Norma pointed out other sights. The behind the scenes access at the cathedral was well worth the price of the tour!

First and most importantly, I need to say Sandra (our guide) was a dear and we liked her very much. She just wasn't the guide for our gang of 2 8yo boys, a 4yo boy, and their mama who knows we need to keep things moving.

The opportunity to see the opening ceremony of the Tower was intense, awesome, so cool, WOW (as my boys said) and I loved it too. Definitely a great memory for all of us and one well worth getting up at 6:30 to see. Sandra helped facilitate this beautifully and was patient with everyone but once this was over we really needed to get moving.

We were encouraged to move fast into the Crown Jewels display by the Beefeater who walked us through the ceremony but Sandra took her time explaining the surroundings and Tower itself. Having three boys to wrangle I really wish we could have beaten the growing crowd so I could feel more confident in letting the bigger boys rush ahead but we ended up with a lot of good information and behind about 200 people. This was frustrating but not totally unreasonable and the way the display is organized we actually did really well - Massive Kudos to the planners.

We then had some free time to wander around and the boys and I enjoyed that but if it had been me alone I would have preferred to have a guide to show me all the little ins and outs. It seems I spent a LOT of money for the few parts we did get explained.

After the Tower we walked for an hour to St. Paul's, partly because I think Sandra needed a slower pace and partly because I think she is a good guide who recognized a few of her visitors needed more time. That said, the same walk was accomplished by me and the boys in about 20 minutes on the way back. As you may imagine, I had a hard time wrangling the boys' frustration but once we got to the square surrounding the Cathedral everyone in our group including Sandra were wonderfully patient about letting the boys run around us while we waited our time of entry.

The bit we enjoyed in the cathedral was very interesting, again, Sandra knows a TON and I would probably hang on every word if I was alone but.... obvs.

We left the group to move on our own and really enjoyed seeing Admiral Nelson's crypt, the Duke of Wellington's tomb, and so on. Really a wonderful chance to experience some significant history of London. I encourage anyone who is a history buff to take this tour with the understanding/caveat that you may need to slow your pace a bit (a lot?) depending on the guide.

Many thanks to Debra, you were amazing. A great day out, with so many things to learn. Be warned, this is a walking tour, and there is a lot of walking. It is so worth it though.

Exactly the tour we expected. Our guide was entertaining and kept the interest of both the children and adults on the tour.
