Meet a driver at your hotel, then travel to an ATV base camp in the desert, where you’ll meet the off-road staff (entrance fees to the off-road area are not included). There’s a herpetarium onsite, where you can stop to see a fascinating collection of snakes and amphibians, including some that live in the Baja desert.
Start with a short safety briefing, and take a few turns on your one-person ATV, a Wildcat 1000; beginning riders can use this time to learn the basics of driving an ATV. Suit up in safety gear, then head into the desert with your off-road guide, following mountain trails, riding along creeks, and revving the engine as you climb into the dunes. You’ll emerge from the desert on to a pair of white sand beaches, then open up the throttle at the edge of the water.
After your time in the desert, loop back towards the base camp, where driver will meet you for the return trip to your hotel.
