Start your tour with a pickup from your Lucca hotel, or head to Lucca central station to meet your guide and group.
You’ll then travel out of the city to discover the medieval towns that cling to the Tuscan hills. Stop at either Lari or Montecarlo, and hop out to explore before you continue to a wine cellar.
With the owner or a guide, you’ll explore the age-old cellars that double up as a unique wine museum. Finish the cellar tour with a tasting session, and sit down to sample Tuscan wine made from sangiovese and trebbiano grapes.
The wine is teamed with artisan cheese, sausage, and salami — all from the local Garfagnana or Terricciola area. Dip wood oven–baked bread into extra virgin olive oil, and try the jam, too.
The food here is given the same attention that’s given to the wine, and each product is checked by the owner to ensure its quality. Vegetarian and child-friendly tasting options are also available.
With your appetite sated, you’ll return to the minivan for the journey back to Lucca.
