What You Can Expect

Lyon Electric Bike Tour with Food Tasting

Enjoy a food-tasting session during your Lyon electric bike tour

Meet your guide near the Palais de Justice in the center of Lyon, where you'll be set up with an electric bike. It makes for an easy way to sightsee, giving you the option of pedaling or letting the bike do some of the work.

Lyon is chock full of historical monuments and buildings, and it's also the culinary capital of the country – which is saying something in a place like France. Biking through this charming city is a great way to see the sights and work up an appetite.

The exact route for this Lyon electric bike tour varies depending on the day, but with an expert guide to lead the way you won't miss out on the best of this UNESCO World Heritage city.

Pedal through the tunnel of Croix Rousse, a delight inside with colorful lights and music playing, on your way to the Lyon Cathedral. Hear stories of the city's history as you ride, seeing both Lyon's best-known sights as well as some hidden gems your guide points out.

Keep riding along the  Rhône River, with its riverside path recently renovated to be more suitable for cycling, to the Place Bellecour. The square is looked over by a statue of King Louis XIV. From there, ride past the lake in Tête d'Or park, a popular spot for boating.

Take a break midway through your bike tour to refresh and reinvigorate with some of those famous local foods. Taste some locally-made cheese like St-Félicien, cured meats and a local pork sausage called rosette, sweet cakes and other morsels to share among your fellow cyclists. Wash it all down with a glass of local wine.

After the meal break of 30-45 minutes (depending on the tour), continue your tour through Lyon's Old Town, where you'll understand why it's a UNESCO-listed city. Admire historic buildings such as the City Hall, Palais St-Pierre, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon and the stately Place des Terreaux.

Upgrade to a 4-hour tour in order to continue your ride up to La Croix-Rousse for spectacular views overlooking the whole of Lyon. This extended tour also includes a stop at the 19th-century  Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, with yet more wonderful city views from its hilltop perch.

At the conclusion of your tour, your guide will lead you back to the starting point.

Jeremy and Oliver were very informative local guides. This was a great way to see the old town, I recommend the 4 hour tour. We visited the gardens, zoo, basilica and rode around on roads I wouldnt dare without a guide. The traffic was very patient. If you arent a little experienced on a bike this tour isnt for you.

Only 4 on this tour so personal attention from great guide Melanie. Electric bike easy to operate and saves a lot of energy though still fairly tough to ascend Fouvriere especially if older and out of shape like myself. Nice stop for tasty charcuterie with cheese and a glass of wine. Highly recommended

Absolute great tour, lots of food more than enough and the guide was excellent, shared enough interesting history, was very accommodating with photo taking, excessively patient and professional with a rather annoying American women and her daughter. Electric bikes were a hit especially for our Mountain climb to the Basilica which housed amazing views of Lyon.

We took the 4 hour tour which included a stop for tasting local meat, cheese and bread with a beverage of choice wine, ice tea etc. which was just enough before the hill climb to the basilique Norte dame which is made easy with the electrically assisted bikes. Our tour guide Jeramy was very knowledgeable and a great guy. Made some suggestions for diner places that turned wonderfully. Would recommend this to anyone. It was summer when we did the tour so this time of year I would recommend the morning tour.

This was a wonderful tour of Lyon. The contact information was easy and accurate and the tour staff were friendly and helpful. The meeting location to start the tour was very easy to locate, but should you need help the staff are readily available by phone. The introduction to e-bikes was thorough and additional carriers were available for back packs, cameras, etc. The ebikes are easy to use and make even steep hills flatten out to afford an easy was to see Lyon. Our guide was Jeremy of whom I can hardly speak highly enough! Jeremy assured that everyone was set up and comfortable with the the ebikes before leaving the bike storage area. He was very pleasant and friendly in his interactions with the tourists. Jeremy led the way with constant assessment of everyone's progress always assuring there were no stragelers and that no one was having difficulty. He was extremely informative of the history of Lyon's development as we stopped at each interest point. Jeremy draws from a five year degree in history to make this tour one of the best I have ever experienced. Wether a short stop in Lyon or an extended stay, this is the tour to take. You will be very pleased with the choice!
