Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Your tour begins with pickup from your central Funchal hotel in time for a 9am departure. Traveling aboard a comfortable bus or coach, set out along the island’s south coast to the fishing village of Câmara de Lobos. Take in the views from the Pico da Torre viewpoint and enjoy a glimpse of everyday life in the village, before continuing through the surrounding vineyards.

Pause to admire the spectacular views from Cabo Girão, the highest cape in Europe at an altitude of 1,900 feet (580 meters), before arriving in the lively village of Ribeira Brava. Stroll around the village and admire the beautiful church of São Bento, then head north across the dramatic Paul da Serra plateau.

Follow a scenic route around the northwest coast, driving through the Ribeira da Janela valley, then arrive in Porto Moniz in time for lunch (own expense). After tucking into some traditional Madeiran cuisine, cool off with a dip at a natural pool, before heading to Seixal, where the Véu da Noiva viewpoint offers impressive views over the surrounding cliffs and waterfalls.

Loop back towards Funchal, stopping to take photos from the mountaintop Encumeada viewpoint, then drive through the UNESCO-listed landscapes of the Laurissilva forest.

Back in Funchal, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 5pm.

The best part of the trip was that we were blessed with good clear weather so the views were astonishing, I would also rate the Beast of East tour 5 stars and maybe even higher marks because of the views and sights

West Coast Coast Tour of Madeira

We are very pleased that we went with Lido Tours, that is the Local Tour Agent for Viator. Our Tour Guide was the very pleasant & knowledgeable Mr.Gama. He briefed us on the Route , Timings and more importantly about The Do’s & Don’t ( Health & Safety) . The Route of The West Coast Tour was awesome , as we were able to learn & see so much about this beautiful Island , The farmers have many challenges and are doing a fantastic job. They toil to produce many Cash Crops, that cling onto the steep sided slopes / terraces of the huge Mountain Ranges. The fruits grown are like Grapes ( For Madeira Wine) , Small Banners , Sugarcane for Molasses and Sirup for Many usages. Our favourite beauty spots were The Highlands(Watch out for Marauding Cows) Village Churches , Churchill Bay and Porta Moniz - Fabulous & Must See ! We must mention that over the years, we have Booked several Tours with Viator in many Countries around the World and have always received First Class Service - Well Done & Thank You so much . M&J 🐝

We had a great day on the West Day Tour. Our driver/guide Gema was friendly and created a good atmosphere. He told us a lot of information about history, local living, plants and nature. We were lucky when the weather was fine and clear. The tour was a great experience and worth the money. We really enjoyed the day.

Overall good tour

This is a nice tour with an interesting overall view of the west side. Our guide was wonderful, nice and gave great insight and went above and beyond to make the tour enjoyable. The only consideration is that we booked a tour in English and at the end it was French and English...at the end the guide made his best to accomodate both these 2 and some Portuguese but they should not mix groups like this...or at least make it clear that it will be a multi language tour.

Western tour

Western Maderia tour. It was a good way of seeing the island micro climates, but it was a bit long. We made some stops that I don't think were necessary for 5 minute photo ops. Our tour guide Nunu was good and knew his stuff, but near the end it was becoming a bit boring.
