A Great intro to the Tapas Scene in Madrid

Great experience! It was a Sunday night and the only other couple scheduled had cancelled, so we basically had a private tour. Our guide Alfonso was extremely knowledgeable about the local food scene and the historical setting. We sampled a great selection local tapas, Jamon and other meat products, and then a variety of seafood. There was a great selection of excellent Spanish wine to go with it all, and some very good advice about wine choices. The whole thing was capped off with a visit to the famous Chocolateria San Gines for churros and hot chocolate. We had a great time chatting up Alfonso about all things spanish. None of the venues, except the Chocolateria, were touristy places. The meeting point was easy to find and only about 100' from the Opera Metro station. We highly recommend this tour.

We had a great night trying four completely different tapas and some great restaurants / bars. Our host was incredibly informative and fun. He really knew his stuff and took great care of us. We were just getting over an illness and were worried it would be a long walk, but he adjusted to our pace, which make it completely doable. Would highly recommend.

Ana was such a great guide for our first real activity in Madrid. The tour is a great introduction to Madrid, and the food is varied for all tastes. Even though it was pouring rain while we were there, we had such a great time with Ana. Highly recommend!

Best thing we did in Madrid

We absolutely loved this tour! Alfonso is just the best guide and made everybody feel welcomed and included. I think this tour would be great for any type of tourist, if they want to learn about food and Madrid, or just to have a fun evening out. We were a small group (3 couples), different ages and nationalities but somehow the whole time we felt like friends out eating and talking to each other. And I'm not the most social person out here. Food wise everything was tasty, interesting and it was a big quantity - I was extra full at the end. Wine was also very good. Tasted a traditional stew, some tapas (at a clasic old restaurant), different types of jamon, ciorizo (at a traditional jamoneria), some traditional olive oil, sea food tapas and churros with chocolate + had 2 glasses of red wine, 1 glass of white wine and 1 cava cup. So yes, it's worth it! This tour has great value and and the highlight of our trip to Madrid.

Drinking and eating are key in this city and country, so getting to know their culture when it comes to tapas and wines is key. You will experience great variety and history. Alfonso, was a spectacular guide. He was knowledgeable and super fun. Totally made us felt like insiders on what was just our first day. Don't miss this great opportunity.
