We are a family of three people. The trip was well organized with 20 people in total. Our guide Catherine was excellent!
Excellent day and tour guide. Our guide was delightful. She was knowledgeable and translated every single word to ensure all travelors understood. She also gave us space to do our thing. This is a plus. Both cities are treasure troves of history and culture. Worth every penny.
Great trip, well worth the 9 hours! Amazing sights, particularly the aqueduct in Segovia. Guide was really informative, with good English.

I highly highly (if i can, highly) recommend this. Everything about it was just perfect. The price is very reasonable. The length of the trip is enough. And Barbara, our guide is awesome! It’s worth it rather than jumping on and off trains to cover both cities.
Loved this tour especially the city of Segovia with its amazing aqueduct. Avila is a World Heritage monument and one of the oldest cities in Spain. The 17th-century convent of St. Teresa of Avila is located here which is a destination for Catholic pilgrims to Avila. Catherine was our tour guide and I highly recommend to do this tour with her.
Fantastic Tour! Pick up in coach was prompt. Small group tour and was able to have our own time in Segovia to look around which was perfect for us on a very hot summer day with 2 younger children. Avila and Segovia are both beautiful places to visit. We found a perfect place for lunch in Segovia too
This was a very long day, but I think it was really a favorite tour in Madrid. I read the reviews so was prepared for what happened. Unfortunately this is a tour of two languages. Most of the people on the bus speak Spanish and then there were about 8 of us who were English speakers. So you have to listen to lots of dialogue we couldn't understand. It made the tour harder to follow. More complicated. But Avila's walls were fantastic! What a beautiful sight! There were a couple of interesting churches we went to as well. Segovia was really a great place. The aqueducts were really impressive! We did not opt for the lunch so ate on our own. I would recommend that. We ate at a great restaurant that served the local speciality, Cochinillo. It's delicious! The Gothic cathedral and the Alcazar of Segovia are wonderful places to visit. Loved this tour! The ride home was long because of an accident, but still so glad we went! Highly recommend!
Katherine our tour guide was excellent. She was very informative and upbeat. We loved that there were only 8 people in the group so we had plenty of time to explore. We all got along so well and shared pictures. We also had a chance to sample their specialty in Segovia which is cochinilla roast pig.. The restaurants in Segovia were all packed. The places that were highly recommended were full and could not seat us until after a couple of hours. Not a big deal because all the other restaurants were good too. You just have to walk fast so you can find a place to eat since all places are packed. Avila was beautiful. We were very fortunate to see this beautiful and religious place. The Aqueduct in Segovia was amazing and Alcazar was so grand and beautiful. We are all in awe that all these places are so well maintained. Beautiful and Blessed experience. These tour is worth it. We went in October thinking that it will be less crowds and cooler. Wrong! It was hot but not humid like September and Madrid is beautiful so you just cant keep the crowds away. Loved this tour and highly recommended.

As it says. Takes you to both cities and leaves you in center.
This was a wonderful tour! I was picked up at my hotel promptly at the scheduled time and taken to the meeting spot. Since I speak Spanish fluently, it didn't matter to me if the guide spoke English or Spanish. As it turned out, I was in a group of all Spanish speakers, with our wonderful guide Barbara. She and the driver had a really good relationship and they kept us entertained while we were on the bus. There was so much to see and so much to do, but we didn't waste any time and didn't miss anything important. We even had enough time to shop and to have lunch in Segovia. I highly recommend El Desván if you find yourself looking for a place to eat in Segovia.
A great opportunity to visit the historic towns of Avila and Segovia by leaving Madrid. The bus tour with tour guide Barbara was excellent. Barbara spoke good English too. Walk through the historic monuments was fantastic. Good value for money too as I chose this trip without lunch.
Our day excursion to Avila and Segovia was supposed to be a normal bus tour but it turned to be a private one because it was only me and my wife who booked for that tour that day. The bus had a capacity of 56 passengers and yet they did not cancel the tour and went ahead. Really a big compliment to VPT Tours and they even had a hotel pick-up service. Not to mention the places we visited, which were excellent, I praise VPT Tours for this once in a lifetime experience. We had a wonderful time and great fun the whole day with our driver Edu, our guide Cristina not sure of the name, and a trainee Sabrina???. Cheers!!!
Excellent tour. Our guide was very good and spoke excellent English
Full day trip to Avila and Segovia from Madrid on Sunday 5 June 2016 - without lunch. Excellent trip that I would highly recommend for many reasons. First, although my hotel was not on their list of pick-ups, they arranged to pick me up from a hotel only five minutes walk away from there the passengers were taken to the main departure point where our coaches were waiting. Second, as there were only 15 people on this trip, it felt very intimate and friendly. Third, our guide, Dianna, was excellent: her English was very good and her knowledge was amazing also, she took the time to answer questions clearly and with a lot of information. Fourth, both cities visited were beautiful with some incredible sights once off the bus, there was a certain amount of walking but the pace was brisk but not rushed - only someone with severe mobility problems would not have been comfortable there was one elderly lady wearing very sensible walking shoes, supported by her daughters and grand-daughters, who gamely kept up with everyone else. I did not book the lunch included so cannot comment on the restaurant, food etc - I took the time to explore Segovia on my own. When I booked this trip, the cost of 75 had seemed a bit high but in fact I think it was good value for money and I would highly recommend it. As with previous comments, when the coach returns to Madrid you are pretty much dropped off in the Gran Via - only a few people were being taken back to their hotels - but the guide was helpful in giving information about using the Metro etc there was a stop very near. Once again, a big thank you to Dianna for making the day so interesting and enjoyable.
Tour was great! Pablo was very friendly and personable! Got to see amazing sights and it was very enjoyable
The Avila tour was way too short and only focused on churches when there are way more interesting things to see. Segovia was wonderful.
A really good full day of fascinating sites and experiences. A total surprise and recommended
Really enjoyed the tour. Great way to see highlights of 2 Unesco heritage sites. Pablo was kind and pleasant. Good English. But as others have said a lot of walking on cobblestone. I booked this trip with TVP specifically because it said it had hotel pickup. But found out no one on the tour got the hotel pickup. Maybe because of holiday day Oct 12 but I don't think so because tour was running. Then I thought it was because my hotel small but asked for pickup at larger hotel but not available. So don't book this company based on ease of hotel pickup.
These two cities are beautiful and definitely worth seeing and can easily be done in the same day. The transportation, tour guide and pace of the tour was very good. The only downside was we were dropped off further away from where we were picked up than expected at the end, once back in Madrid.
Would have liked a bit more information, story telling about Saint Teresa and the Aqueduct
The start of the day was rather chaotic and unorganized. I understand that they are picking up all over the city for different tours, but it took so long for people to be changing buses, getting tickets, needs to be more streamlined and organized. A group of people starting clapping when we finally got on the road.
The bus was warm in the morning and VERY HOT in the afternoon. Ride was uncomfortable.
The 2 cities are very interesting. I think more information and detail could have been given to us and walking routes varied more - not walk the same way coming and going in the city.
Our tour guide was very nice, friendly and tried very hard. This was a Spanish/English tour. She seemed to struggle with the English, not always knowing what word to use. Needs more practice.
We normally travel on our own, using other resources for our information. These cities were not that easy to get around from Madrid, so that is why we signed up for this tour.
We have had other great side trips with Viator, so most likely will not be our last.
Our bus had 12 people and a seemingly disorganized, inexperienced tour guide lacking enthusiasm - at least for the Avila side. We were not told a whole lot about this town and it felt like a waste of time. Segovia was absolutely lovely and the guide, Barbara perked up after lunch to give an informative tour of the castle and cathedral. Improvements could be made on the Audio sound on the bus, how close she holds the microphone to her mouth and the overall quality of the presentation. I felt like this Avila part of the tour was given to a group of 1st graders with a limited attention span, but we were a group of 9 adults, 2 teens and 1 6 year old. Skip Avila, it has not yet developed tourism and is just a lovely wall and a couple chapels, not worth the time. Spend a day in Segovia - the Aqueduct was AMAZING and deserved much more time and explanation. Choose a different tour company.... due to this experience we went to Toledo on our own.
If i could give a poorer review of this tour i would. Its absolutely terrible, and i caution all tourists to the region from taking this tour via VPT travels.
There were a total of 13 on this trip, including my parents and myself. The tour was offered in both Spanish and English, and we selected the latter. Bear in mind, this is what we selected, and paid for, the very same rate the Spanish speaking tourists paid.
The guide was an elderly woman, who was clearly much more interested in selling more tours rather than actually giving a good tour on the one we had already paid for. She spent about 80 of the time talking in Spanish, and once in a while she'd throw us a courtesy translation in English. Again i reiterate though, she'd spend hours chatting with the tour group in Spanish, and then turn to us because we were staring in earnest hoping she would give us an explanation as well, and say something to the degree of here are the chapels in the church- they are very very beautiful. look at the lovely high ceilings. So apart from pointing out the obvious, in English, we really walked away from this tour no further educated nor enlightened.
Additionally, the overall booking process was very poor from the getgo. I never received any sort of itinerary that laid out what we would cover. Perhaps this tour is much better suited for the laziest of travelers, who have no interest in being aware of where they are being taken, or doing any research ahead of time of the trip. We arrived in Avila, excited to climb the city walls, only to be informed by the guide that we would not get to do so. The Avila tour covered a church, and a walk through the old town. This, is terribly disappointing, as the highlight of Avila is really walking the 13th century walls that remain in excellent condition. As such, we had to skip the tour through the old town, so we could actually climb the walls for a brief 15 mins as the window was very tight. The guide, clearly dissatisfied wit
