This was an outstanding tour. The tour guide and the bus driver were very friendly. They kept the tour moving alot but we did not feel rushed. We would definitely book through them again.

Wow this a must if you are going to Madrid. The Castles in Avila were just breathtaking. Good tour if you don't have a lot of time. There is a lot of walking in Segovia since they can't drive in the town. The lunch was exquisite one of kind strongly recommend upgrading to the suckling pig and wine. Make sure you stay with your guide so you don't get lost. The guide was very informative and friendly. Trip was well organized.
Overall, we enjoyed this tour a lot. You get picked up from your hotel on-time and shuttled to their Trapsatur main location. They were very punctual and the bus left right at 9 am. The bus is new, seats are comfortable and there are no bathrooms on the bus. Javier was our tour guide and he was great. He is bilingual and his English is excellent. Its not easy to switch between Spanish and English while leading the tour. We enjoyed the overall pace of the tour and the monuments that were covered - spent about couple of hours in Avila churches and convents before taking off for Segovia. Avila and Segovia are both beautiful and historic.
Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers since both Avila and Segovia are colder than Madrid. We did the tapa option - its one small appetizer and a drink - so we ended up getting additional plates. We spent about 4 hours in Segovia including walking the churches and castle. Javier knows his history, provides a ton or relevant details and answers all questions.
Great Tour. nice relaxed walking tour. Tour Guide was excellent and really explained the history behind the sites. The lunch was one of the highlights of the tour.
Absolutely wonderful 9 hour tour. Our guide Javier, provided a lot of relevant information about Madrid as we drove through the city and suburbs. He then had the perfect balance of information and quiet time on our drive to Avila, the first of our two UNESCO world heritage cities. A fascinating tour includinge the intact original walls of the city surrounds, beautiful and interesting churches, the lovely old town, a busy market, the old and new Jewish quarters and the Basillica of St Teresa of Avila, who came from Jewish roots and went on to become a catholic, then a nun and the founder of the Carmelites. Javier had so much information to impart and did so in a very interesting manner. Then on to Segovia and it's intact Roma viaduct over 2000 years old and a wonderful lunch consisting of white bean soup, suckling pig, Segovian cake with ice cream and wines. Then we walked to a magnificet cathedral through the car free streets with many shops including local produce and high fashion. Again, heaps of interesting and relevant information as we strolled though the magnificent Cathedral and its surrounds and finally to The Castle upon which Disney's Snow White is based. An original Moorish castle and mosque reclaimed by the Catholic monarchs and added to with Christian facades . A truly wonderful day and one which provided us with so much of Spain's history . Thank you again Javier and for giving us some information about our home, Australia which we had not known. A highly recommended trip with Trapsatur
Though a long day, trip was very well laid out. Guide was exceptionally informative
This is the perfect day-trip from Madrid - Both Avila and Segovia are UNESCO protected sites, magical little kingdoms of their own. While more time devoted to each town would be good, I already knew it was both towns on a day trip. I was expecting to be rushed, but found it pleasantly relaxing well, if not relaxing, at least not-so-rushed and the time allocated to each town was adequate. The guide even let us wander about on our own, and come to a fixed meeting spot, later on in the trip.
This was especially helpful in Segovia, where there was so-o-o much to see. We wanted to explore the town a bit a medieval town with historic charm, so we chose to give the cathedral a slip saw it from the outside, and decided to walk around the old alley-ways, do a bit of local craft-ware shopping, and explore the Aqueduct from up-top and personal. Plus the tapas lunch was totally inadequate and so blah. So we had to find something top eat on our own - Nice eating places, at very reasonable cost, in front of and with good view of the Cathedral.
But the real treasure, not to be missed was the Alcazar which was on the guided tour's itinerary, so we met at the Alcazar, later, for the guided tour inside. Again Spectacular. And this from someone who has seen the Alhambra, and the Real Alcazar in Seville.
My son and I took this tour a week before he started Grad School at a major university in Madrid. Our tour guide Javier was outstanding! He was very knowledgeable and also personable! He spoke Spanish and excellent English. The bus was clean, and airconditioned and we felt very well taken care of. There was some private time to explore on this tour too. Once my son started at the University, one of his professors took the class to Segovia for the day. My son said Javier had much more information to share and he was glad he took the Viator tour first! We highly recommend this tour!
Beautiful cities full of amazing history and our tour guide was very helpful and very kind.
This tour is a must see! We had a great time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. We had plenty of time at each stop to explore. Lunch was very good. It was very organized as you sat at tables based on what type of lunch upgrade you chose. Our meal was very tasty and it was delivered in a timely fashion.
Great day out from Madrid - lots of interesting sites in both locations - churches, acqueduct, castle, lots of things to pack into one day! Javier was an excellent guide, and we realls enjoyed our day in his company.
Avilla tour is excellent Segovia tour is very good. Tour guide excellent, bilingual, Spanish/English. Both a must to see places.

I enjoyed all aspects of this tour. Our guide, Javier, was friendly, helpful, and extremely well informed. The sights in Avila were fine, and the sights in Segovia were wonderful. Despite the unseasonably cold, rainy, and snowy weather, it was a fantastic glimpse of life beyond Madrid. I was able to make the hike down the back stairway so i could get the ideal photo of the Alcazar from below the hillside.
Pilar sp? was a great tour guide -- very informative and did a great job of toggling back and forth between English and Spanish. We opted for the Tapa lunch and that's our only regret. It was one small thing and a drink and definitely not enough food. We easily found a great place to eat while the other people on the tour had a sit down lunch. If we could do again, we would have just opted out of any food and just found lunch on our own. Otherwise we loved this tour!
Nice tour but not much time in either town, you'll spend about half the time on the bus.
You'll be better off picking just one and exploring it thoroughly.
Really enjoyed the tour. Tour guide was amazing, she was full of facts. It was difficult to coverall that we did in such a short period of time. Kendalls
Wonderful tour. Beautiful cities. Our guide Xavier was very knowledgeable. The lunch was just a tapa and drink. Not worth it. Overall, a great experience.
Tour was excellent Javi Harry was knowledgeable and informative. The only issue we were really taken back about was the tapas bar we went to. It was not a very comfortable experience. The rest of the day was value for money
We booked this tour last-minute, and really enjoyed it. Our tour guide, Javier, was really well-informed and did a great job of describing sites in both English and Spanish. The visit to Avila was brief but long enough to get some pictures of the city walls and the cathedral. We had more time in Segovia and saw the aqueduct, cathedral and alcazar.
The lunch upgrade was tasty and we enjoyed it, but the service at the restaurant was really slow and we had to hurry to re-join the tour group. We didn't have time to explore the city a bit on our own because lunch took so long. On our way back to the tour we found a bakery called Limon y Menta and picked up some ponche segoviano which was really delicious we wished we'd bought more than just the bite-sized versions.
This is a great tour to consider if you are looking to visit both cities and only have a day.
The tour to Avila was great...Lydia was knowledgeable about the city etc. The group was small probably about 6 or 8 of us and i believe I was the only English speaker. We were told our tapas lunch would be in Segovia and we would have omelettes for lunch. As i do not eat eggs in any form, i asked Lydia if there would be a substitute available for me. She said no, but there were many restaurants in the area where i could go to purchase my own lunch. I'd paid for the tour with tapas lunch. Upon arriving in Segovia, we were told that we would be there until 4:30pm and would meet up at the same location we were currently. She then took the others for tapas and I was left to find my own lunch, which I did. I never did meet up with the group again and paid all of my own admission fees to the sites that were included in the tour. I arrived at what I understood was our meeting point at 4:30 and waited until 5pm without seeing anyone from my group and became worried. I returned to the area of the Alcazar remembering that she had mentioned that location at some point. I was informed that it was now 5:30pm and all the tour buses had left including mine with my jacket and I would need to find a bus or other transportation back to Madrid. I found the bus station and purchased a ticket back to Madrid arriving about 8pm. I contacted Viator as well as the tour company to retrieve my jacket and to tell my story. My jacket was finally delivered to me about a week later when I was in Granada. I did not ask for a reimbursement for my lunch, bus ticket or admission fees, and none was offered. Management of the tour company told me that the guide said I was offered a substitute lunch I was NOT and that i wanted to take a walk in a city I did not know, and a language i do not speak???.....that's why I went with a tour guide!!!!
All in all, it was a learning experience for me: 1. DO NOT EVER ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE SEPARATED FROM YOUR TOUR GUIDE. and 2. Get a map and have the tour guide mark in INK your pick up location and time.
A little too much time in Avila left insufficient time in Segovia. A lot of time wasting overall with pick up directions not very clear, consequently we had to wait several times for passengers not knowing when and where to be.
While Segovia and Avila were both beautiful places, my biggest complaint was the tour guide. He was nice, but spent maybe a third of the time speaking English and much more time speaking Spanish. He took us to a cafe where they did not take credit cards and didn't give a warning or help us order anything in Spanish. If it hadn't been for a very kind man on the tour with us, I would have had to walk out without paying. For the English people on the tour, I very much felt that he sort of forgot he had us with him. Lunch that was included was merely two slivers of potato omelette and a coffee for both of us. Also, the tour guide emphasized we be back at the bus at 4:30 we didn't bother going on the tour in Segovia because he was barely translating anything for us. Mom and I literally ran down the street thinking we'd be left behind and lo and behold, we were the first ones at the bus at 4:35. We waited over half an hour for anyone to show up and when we asked why he was late, he simply said they had issues at the fortress. We had hotel pickup extremely early since we waited around the tour office for almost an hour and then at the end of the day, the bus dropped us off in the middle of the Plaza de Espana in the pouring rain. It didn't make any sense. The operation was very disorganized and I wish I had just stayed in Madrid for the day.
