What To Expect

Get a taste for the lively tapas culture and raucous nightlife in Madrid, Spain's capital of commerce and cuisine, during this small-group walking tour to the city's many tapas bars, limited to just 10 guests. Over the course of your tour, you get a chance to taste a variety of delicious regional foodstuffs from across the country, learning about the city's unique culture and rituals as you go.

Begin your evening right beside the statue of the Oso y Madroño (Bear and strawberry tree) in Puerta de Sol. Meet your guide, who helps to explain the traditions of Madrid's famous eating and drinking culture, helps translate when ordering and provides suggestions of the best local specialties.

During your tour, stop at various bars to sample a variety of food and drink. A drink and tapas are included in your first stop (min. 3 tastings and 1 drink), after which you can choose how much or how little you'd like to purchase to consume at the subsequent stops. Along the way, you're likely to taste local specialties like chorizo in cider, Galician octopus, Asturian cider, or Andalucian sherry, among other favorites. When you finish your evening, make your own way back to your hotel or talk to your guide, who can help arrange a taxi (at your own expense)

James is a great host and gave us a great walking tour as we stopped for tapas and drinks. We had a small group which made it intimate. He gave us a lesson on how to enjoy ourselves in Madrid. The small group was — from Australia, South Africa, the UK and us from Puerto Rico - made for interesting conversations.

Had the best time. Our guide was so informative and fun, we got to try everything I thought we were going to try and more. We were able to walk around the city and learn more about it too which I liked. I did not feel rushed on the tour. I learned and ate/drank so much. Would recommend this to anyone.

We really enjoyed this walking food tour. The food was delicious and places we visited were excellent. We did this particular tour on our first day in Madrid and it gave us an excellent start of exploring Spanish tapas culture. The tour guide was funny, knowledgeable and engaging.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Miriam was fantastic and explained the different dishes and guided us on what to order. She also gave many interesting tips on what to see in Madrid and some fascinating historical background as well. This tour takes you off the tourist trail to discover authentic Madrid with many little gems that only the locals know about. Highly recommend.

Fun and delicious way to make friends from all over

Enjoyed the group tour through historical Madrid. Guide was informative and recommended interesting foods and drink at each stop. Was not sure how the individual ordering after the first stop but we had a great group which made sharing the bills uncomplicated. Great introduction to Spanish tapas in places we probably would not have entered on our own.

The guide was awesome and knew the history. She did her job well and shared the history of each places we visited. It is just not a Tapas bar hopping but a walking tour that was quite interesting. I highly recommend to others who want to learn a little about the culture, food, and the places nearby. Hard to locate the person on the meeting point. Great tour guide!!!

Landing 10 hours earlier after an overnight flight, our tour guide, Vivian, was wonderful. Lots of great information with four Tapa bars visited. The historical streets tour before the Tapas was equally nice.

James was a great tour guide, very down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and humorous. He was very helpful to suggest tapas that would suit our whole group, even vegetarians. The food and drink were excellent, allowing for a little taste of Spain from multiple tapas bars. Highly recommend!
