What You Can Expect

Mida Creek Mangrove Forest Glass-Bottom Boat Safari Through Watamu Marine National Park

Mida Creek beach

Begin with 8:30am pickup at your Watamu or Malindi hotel, then launch from a beach in Watamu Marine National Park. Navigating by glass-bottom boat allows you to spot coral gardens and some of the park’s hundreds of species of fish without getting wet—great schools of bright fish dart through the thriving coral, and the park is also home to pods of dolphins and sea turtles. Slip over the edge of the boat for a snorkeling tour of the reefs, swimming alongside angelfish, groupers, and parrotfish.

Continue to Mida Creek, a protected landscape of white sand, mangroves, and brackish water. This is the perfect place to spot herons and osprey along the intertidal zone, or the fish eagles and kingfishers that hunt at the edge of the trees.

Pause for a seafood lunch of lobster, shrimp, fish, and fruit, then spend the afternoon on South Island. Ride in a local-style canoe up narrow mangrove channels (own expense), or simply enjoy the coastal sunshine and scenery. This tour concludes with return transfer to your hotel.
