Lower Barrakka Gardens , Quarry Wharf, Valletta, Malta
Meet your guide and small group of up to 30 people in central Valletta for a morning departure. After learning a little bit about the city, which was built by the Knights of St John in 1565 and is now a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, set out on a walking tour of the city’s highlights.

Discover Valletta’s magnificent Baroque architecture, stopping to admire St. John’s Co-Cathedral, the Auberge de Castille, and the Church of St. Paul's Shipwreck, then visit St. George’s Square to see the opulent Grand Master’s Palace.

As you walk around the city, your guide points out the new Parliament building, the ruins of the Royal Opera House, and historic sites such as the Great Siege Monument, The Siege Bell Memorial, and Fort St. Elmo. Continue through lively Piazza Regina, then stroll around the idyllic Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens and hear about Valletta’s role as the 2018 European Capital of Culture as you gaze down over the Grand Harbour.

Your tour ends in central Valletta.

Matthew gave us an excellent tour of Valletta. You can tell he knows the history really well, but he also is a good storyteller, builds up the story from one stop to the next. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the wonderful tour

To me, the best part of this tour is that Christian doesn't feel like a "tour guide". Instead, more of a friend that was having a conversation with you while you take a stroll through town. I am sure that's one of the reasons why everything he said felt very genuine. Nothing felt scripted. Thanks again for such a wonderful tour Christian, I hope I'd get to come back and have a chat with you again soon

Tour definitely recommended!

Matthew was very informative and engaged, we really enjoyed the walk. Be aware, the city gate is not actually a gate but an opening of limestone, which totally threw us trying to find the meeting point.

Matthew was a terrific guide. Knowledgeable and interesting and really brought the facts alive. One of the best guides I’ve ever had on a trip. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a potted history of Valletta

A fantastic tour of Valletta! Matthew provided excellent historical knowledge of the city and gave local insights and details you could not get from a guide book. You didn't feel rushed but also felt like you had fitted a good amount in during the tour. Very glad I booked it!

Brillant guide - an ex Hoistory & Geography teacher who was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and thought provoking. His enthusiasm and description of the Carvaggio paintings in the co-Catherdral of St John are worth to tour in themselves !

Excellent from the outset. Clear & Informative. Great guide but sadly forgot his name. Although 3 hours, it went very quickly with a 25 min break in pleasant gardens with cafe & loo. Many thanks

Our guide was terrific! She used very entertaining stories to explain the history of Valletta. Voice amplification would have improved the experience, for at times she could not be heard over the nearby street noises.
