Meet a driver at your hotel for 9am or 2pm departure, then set out on a “best-of” tour through the city. You’ll learn a bit about Marrakech history as you explore, from the city’s 1070 founding by the Almoravid empire to the modern-day Kingdom of Morocco.
The first stop of the day is the Bahia Palace, once the sumptuous home of the Grand Vizier of Marrakech. Take in the tiled walls and cedar ceiling of the Council Chamber, then enter the Central Courtyard and the luxurious apartments of the Sultan’s beloved concubine.
Continue to Jemaa el-Fnaa, a square that bursts with activity from juice-sellers to snake charmers, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere—the square is recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Near Jemaa el-Fnaa is the Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret, the largest mosque in Marrakech, whose red stone minaret dominates the city skyline.
Step into the world of royal sultans and princes at the Saadian Tombs, a gorgeous mausoleum that was lost until 1917, with column-lined halls, gardens, and a gorgeous central hall. Following your time at the Saadian Tombs, this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
