What To Expect

Your full-day electric bike tour departs in the morning from Vieux Port (Old Port). Before taking off, your local guide will offer a safety introduction to the intuitive and easy electric bike. Fit with pedals and a small motor to propel you forward, this modern ride allows you to see more of Marseille and the surrounding region in less time.

First, head south out of Marseille along Corniche Kennedy, catching scenic views of the village of Vallon des Auffes, Prado Beach and Madrague Montredon. You’ll disembark in the quaint town of Les Goudes for some independent exploring. Wander the secluded village and watch fishing boats drift through the cove. Enjoy a lunch (payable directly to restaurant; see sample menu below) or grab some food of your own.

Hop back on your bike and wind farther south through the wild and dramatic Calanques region. Admire the distinctive limestone rock formations – called the ‘fjords of the French Riviera’ – that wrap around pools of crystal-clear water to make dramatic inlets. Stop at La Plage de la Maronaise (Maronnaise Beach) for an invigorating swim, before heading on to the stunning Calanque de Callelonque (Callelongue Cove). Here, watch small boats drift in and out of the cove and locals lounge on the beach.

To end, you’ll return to Marseille to explore some of city highlights including green spaces like Parc Borély or Campagne Pastré – two lovely public parks – and the magnificent Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde, a Neo-Byzantine Catholic church perched atop Marseille’s highest peak. Enjoy panoramic views of the Marseille’s labyrinthine streets below, the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and the bustling Old Port.

Follow your guide back down the hill to the starting point, where your tour ends by late-afternoon.

Traveler Tips

The ride was a bit of a challenge but so worth it!
The stop off at the Notre Dame on the way back was tough getting up the steep hill, made much easier with the e-bike, but the view once up there was breathtaking.

Fantastic bike tour

We very much enjoyed our bike tour from Merseille. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable, helpful and careful of the group while managing through traffic. The sites along the way are fantastic. We highly recommend!

Best Cruise Day activity in Marseille!
Brandon_R, Oct 2022
We booked this trip last minute for something to do on our cruise stop to Marseille and we are very we did! Prompt pickup from the cruise terminal, only a short drive with a friendly driver to the bike pickup location, then a full day of touring on ebike! The bikes were great, had the perfect amount of power to get you through 20+miles of touring. Our guide was wonderful a d really immersed us in Marseille. From urban areas, shorelines, Forrest, quiet Calanque where we had lunch and admired the views. I would 100% recommend doing this for a cruise stop. You see so much of a place you have only a handful of hours to explore with a local. You should be in somewhat of good physical shape as some of the uphill sections require pedaling even with the max assist, but only a handful of times.
Fun Day out with Manu!
Lynda_Y, Oct 2022
Manu was funny and well knowledgeable about the city. He conveyed his loved for Marseille, and we all felt it. We rode along the coast and into several cool spots of town. Grabbed lunch at a small bakery (delicious sandwiches and pastries), and ate it at the beach. Book it and ask for Manu.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Thank you Lynda, we are 2 "Manu" here... and both must be asked for :-)
Nice way to see the sights!
Heather_C, Oct 2022
This was a great way to see a lot in a short period of time. The electric bike made the ride very easy and pleasurable. We were able to grab lunch (the sandwiches and dessert were fabulous) and enjoy it picnic style with a wonderful view. Our guide, Mari, was perfect!
Must do in Marseille
Miles_B, Oct 2022
Great way to see some of the sights and learn some of the history of Marseille, get into the calanques, and have a delicious guided lunch (you pay for your lunch, of course). Marine, our guide, was knowledgeable and fun to be with.

A super fun way to see Marseille and Les Calanques!
Kimberly_G, Oct 2022
I most enjoyed my conversations with the tour guide, Marine. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and insightful. The meal at the restaurant where we ate was excellent with very generous portions. And of course, the scenery was exquisite!
Effortless and great fun
Catherine_B, Sep 2022
Claire our guide was excellent. Her English was totally fluent, she was very calm and efficient, and also knowledge about the history and geography of the area. The route out was very varied and interesting. The bikes are such good fun even cycling to the cathedral was effortless.

Beautiful and educational ride
John_P, Sep 2022
Our guide was really knowledgeable about the deep human history of the areas in Marseille where the ride started, and then later the environment of the Calanques National Park. Our group had six people, some French-speaking and some English-speaking, and our guide handled this really gracefully. It was a really lovely and memorable day.
Bike tour along beautiful Marseille
Daniel_C, Sep 2022
Excellent all day tour of Marseille! Bike tour is truly the best way to see a city! We covered so much ground and saw so many beautiful sights. We stopped for a nice French lunch along the coast and it was fantastic! Our guide, Piere, was excellent! He did a great job! Highly recommend this tour!

A perfect day in Marseille!
LeAnne_N, Sep 2022
Highly recommend the trip with Claire to the Calanques. We had a great time. It was hot and exhausting but completely worth it And the e Ike’s were amazing. I would never had survived the bike ride without the assist from the ebike. Also, note that when I booked via Viator it told me the ride was only 2 hours- it wasn’t- it was 6-7 hours. So be prepared!
100% Recommend

An amazing way to see all of Marseille. Peter was our guide for the day and had demonstrated a sound knowledge of Marseille history!
Iris was super...
Alex_A, Jul 2022
Iris was super knowledgeable and friendly. While the ride has a lot of highlights and postcard picture opportunities, I don’t encourage this excursion for folks who are shy about navigating high traffic areas.
Great day out
Cathy_B, Jul 2022
Very enjoyable day out seeing the sights of Marseilles & Calleneques. Our guide Stefan was very helpful, informative and kind. The e-bikes were very easy to use and we covered a lot of ground in the heat with ease. Wouid recommend.
Amazing Amazing Tour! Would do again!
Anita_W, Jul 2022
My first time on a bike tour and on an electric bike was simply amazing! I was on a solo trip and booked this tour to try something new. I was a bit anxious because I'd never been on a bike tour... couldn't even remember the last time I rode a bicycle but it was so worth it! Unfortunately our ship docked late but thankfully our tour guide waited for the cruise guests. Because we were so late, we were unable to get into Marseille proper. I wish there were more opportunities to stop for photo ops and information about some interesting things we rode past. I wasn't too keen with the hour-long wait for our food order (also I would have preferred more of a local dish than what seemed like Italian fare. The food was good, but I was hoping to try different cuisines during my trip. The ride to the Calanques was breathtaking and worth the time and money spent. The guides took care to make sure everyone in the group followed along and didn't get left behind.

Had never done a bike...
Ty_L, Jul 2022
Had never done a bike tour before and we all really enjoyed the experience. So much better than being in a bus and it is nice having a smaller group as well. It is also great to be able to experience the city in a different way on bike.
Stunning Views
Donna_B, Jun 2022
Cindy was an amazing guide and so fun to spend a day with. Our group was a group of adult siblings on a trip in Europe. We loved seeing Marisielle !
Lots of fun!
Jacy_K, Jun 2022
We had a fantastic time with our guide, Iris. The bikes are super easy to ride and driving them around so much of Marseille was a ton of fun. We had no idea how vast and full of history Marseille was until this tour. The restaurant was absolutely delicious, highly recommend. If you’re visiting Marseille, this trip is definitely a must-do!
Response from Host, Jun 2022
You were fanstastic too ! Thank you
Fun trip to thé Calanques and Notre Dame
Mary_M, Jun 2022
I highly recommend this tour. It is a really fun way to go to Notre Dame and thé Calanques and other places. Easy because of the electric bikes. The swim was beautiful. You do need to ride in traffic but I felt fine with it. If you are scared of riding in traffic this may not be for you. The guide Iris was great!
Must be young a daredevil
Maureen_M, Jun 2022
Too much traffic.. Scary.. It was a Sunday and going thru traffic was taking your life in your hands
Response from Host, Jun 2022
Hello i agree there was a lot of traffic on that day (much more than usualy), but our activity is clearly for people who can ride on roads with cars. The way on this tour is 60% on cycles path and 40% on roads open to traffic. When your guide told me you were scared by traffic, i went immediately to take you in charge and we cycled slowly on back roads and bike lanes to come back safely. Your guide continued with others guest the tour. I would have appreciated you tell all we did for you on that special crazy traffic day.
