Discover the beauty and culture of historic Marseille on this family-friendly electric bike tour! Over two hours and a half or three hours and a half, accompany your guide and small group on a ride through Marseille’s ancient streets. Explore off-the-beaten-path corners of the city, picturesque ports and main attractions like Palais du Pharo and Notre-Dame de la Garde, and cruise along the waterfront for gorgeous Mediterranean views. See more of France’s oldest city with ease!
Your morning or afternoon two hours and a half tour of France’s oldest city departs from Marseille Vieux Port. Meet your local guide and get acquainted with the deluxe electric bike. Fit with a small motor and optional baby seats and trailers, this modern ride allows you and your family to cover a lot of ground with ease.
First, cruise to the Palais du Pharo (Napoleon's Palace), the 18th-century coastal mansion that stands like a sentinel on the entry to the Old Port. Admire the bustling waterway before heading inland to view Notre-Dame de la Garde, a Neo-Byzantine Catholic basilica that rises from Marseille’s highest point, and the Abbey of Saint Victor.
Continue toward Corniche du Président John F Kennedy (Corniche Kennedy) for a leisurely ride along the sun-kissed coastal boulevard. Along the way, pedal past scenes of French life such as locals playing pétanque – favorite game of balls – and fishermen working in the village of Vallon des Auffes and the quaint cove Anse de Malmousque. Stop to snap great photos, get insider tips and learn fascinating anecdotes about Marseille’s long history from your savvy guide. You’ll also have a chance to stop for some lunch or refreshments (own expense).
The three hours and a half tour upgrade includes a trip through the ambient Le Panier neighborhood, the oldest quarter in Marseille. Coast through picturesque lanes and under terraced houses strung with clotheslines. Admire the striking façade of the Marseille Cathedral and the Museum of the Civilisations of Europe and the Mediterranean (MuCEM), a strikingly modern accent on Marseille’s ancient waterfront.
Your leisurely electric bike tour concludes at its starting point in Vieux Port.
Highly recommend this bike tour. If you are after of more action and adventure this is the excursion for you. We just absolutely loved it and our tour guide was fun.
The electric bikes were a great way to get around in Marseille! Our guide was sweet and shared lots of information about the city. We were able to cover a lot of ground during our tour and the bikes make the hills a breeze!
Great experience looove the bikes. Easy to ride and see the city. Annabelle the guide was lovely but wasn't knowledgable about the area. When asked the population her reply was "a lot.".. hahahaha also google certain things. For the price need to be better but we had fun!
Our guide Samir was FANTASTIC! He provided a great overview of the city and took us to off the beaten pack locations. Using the electric bikes made the tour very easy and allowed us to cover alot in a short amount of time. The highlight was getting to the top of mountain to visit the cathedral. Again the bikes made it so much easier. We do alot of bike tours, this was one in our top 3!
Excellent tour, easy to organise, good instructions re meeting, picked up on time. Our guide was excellent, informative, pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed her enthusiasm about her City. As we were the only two on the tour we had a very personal service. We felt we understood a lot more of Marseille as a result
We had a great time learning about the city and riding the electric bikes. It was a great way to see Norte Dame and a good jumping off point to decide what we wanted to go visit for the remainder of the day.
We had a great time on the 4 hour version of the E-bike trip! Traffic, at times is a bit hectic, but you get to see things and experience views that you can't get to on a motorized trip and covered way more ground than on a regular bike or on foot. Emmanuel did a great job conducting the tour and pointing out other tips about Marseille and Provence. We went to Cassis and toured the Calanques the next day as a direct result of his suggestion - it was also incredible.
Had a great bike ride through the city and along the coast. Very nice pace with the electric bikes doing the hard work. Quick stop at a café for coffee/beer and we were off to Notre Dame. Finished with a quick stop at a soap store to pick up some local artisan soaps. I would definitely do this tour again or suggest it to any of my friends.
This was a great overview of the city which would have been way too big to navigate on foot during our one day visit. The bikes were easy to operate and fun. The guide did a great job explaining the sites in both English and French for the small group we were in.
