Returns to original departure point
Your walking tour of Marseille departs in the morning from the Old Port central dock of the city. This meeting spot is hard to miss because it’s where the fish market takes place every morning.

Once you get together with your group and guide, hop on a public bus (all public transport tickets needed for this tour are included). Your bus ride takes you up to La Grande, the highest point in the city. Here you can catch a glimpse of the Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde before heading off on foot for the Roucas Blanc neighborhood.

As you pass through the neighborhood, enjoy views of the seashore and city. Follow your guide down to Prophet's Beach, one of the most well-known beaches in the area. Continue walking on the seafront road, Corniche, and spot the Planier Lighthouse.

Other places you’ll pass include the Valmer Gardens, Marégraphe, and Maldormé Creek. Your last stop is at Vallon des Auffes, the picturesque fisherman port. Your tour ends with return to the Old Port central dock.

A great way to see Marseilles!
, Jul 2018
So glad we selected WalkinonMars for our brief time in port in Marseilles! Ugo knows and loves this city and we enjoyed ourselves immensely as he shared the culture and history of everything from churches to gardens to beaches and more! We experienced much more than if we would have been stuck on a tour bus. A lovely day and great to have the local perspective! Not to be missed!

My three companions and I could not have been happier with our Marseille Off The Beaten Path tour. It lived up to its description, and we saw sights that we never would have without the expertise of our guide Ugo.

Ugo was a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable on the history and neighbourhoods in Marseille. We had an enjoyable walking tour with Ugo, who was very accommodating to our family as we were running a little late. Thank you for an amazing visit to Marseille!

It was relaxing, personal and fun. I learned not only about Marseilles, but insight into French politics, idioms and cooking. The walk was nicely planned to be mostly downhill, in and out of distinctive nooks and crannies, and ending up in the Vieux Port, right where we started. Ugo fielded my questions with open interest and gave me knowledgeable answers. I would enjoy another walk with him again.
