Marseille Shore Excursion: Private Tour of Aix-en-Provence

Place du General de Gaulle with its spectacular fountain

Discover stunning Aix-en-Provence with an intimate private tour through this ancient city with a youthful soul. At Marseille Port, board an air-conditioned coach for your morning or afternoon tour. Meet your local guide and learn about Aix’s Roman history as you cruise northward through scenic Provençe.

Upon arrival, you’ll disembark near Cours Mirabeau, the city’s main central boulevard. Stroll down the boutiquey thoroughfare and admire diverse markets, shops, bakeries, cafés and colorful, 19th-century buildings. Take in the scenery and enjoy fascinating stories about the town and its famous visitors and residents, including Albert Camus, Paul Cézanne and Émile Zola, as you follow your guide to the Place du Général de Gaulle.

As you tour the city, witness the spectrum of Aix’s preserved architecture, from 12th-century buildings to more ‘modern’ constructions dating from the last 300 years. Admire the town’s many spectacular fountains such as the Fontaine d’Eau Thermale (Thermal Water Fountain) and the Place d’Albertas fountain, and grand buildings like Cathédral Saint-Sauveur d’Aix and Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall).

Your tour includes an optional visit to the Atelier Paul Cézanne at Les Lauves (own expense), a must for any fan of Cézanne’s work. View the meticulously preserved studio where Cézanne created his final masterpieces and attend a memorable art workshop.

Your 4-hour private tour ends with a short drive back to your cruise ship port.

Excellent tour. Our guide Veronique I apologize if I misspelled your name handled all the driving, answered questions, and kept our small group together. She also co-ordinated our walking tour and was very informative. Very pleased with how the tour was handled.

My group was totally thrilled with this excursion. Maria was a fabulous guide and aix-en-Provence was beautiful. We arrived early I the morning and there were few tourists there which was great. As well as their usual market there was a crafts market set up with fabulous hand crafted merchandise and we lucked into a "period costume" parade. I would recommend this excursion and viator.

I had an enjoyable time on my private tour of Aix-en-Provence. Aix is a beautiful city. Stephanie was an awesome tour guide. She was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and she was on time. She even managed to squeeze in a visit to the Notre-Dame de la Garde for my group. I would highly recommend this tour and i would definitely request Stephanie.

Our tour guide was friendly and informative - and very patient when our tour members wanted to shop!

Enjoyed the tour and wish we could have spent longer. Sadly the tour operator did not contact the guide about the earlier pickup time we could have managed.. The guide could have come earlier, but didn't know about the request
