Charming guide, charming city. I highly recommend this tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable about her city, both the history and the current living areas. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

Our guide Remy was prompt, pleasant, friendly and informative. He picked us up on time at the Marseille cruise terminal with a spacious and well-maintained van, drove us quickly to Avignon. Along the way he pointed out various landmarks and supplied us with tidbits on life in Marseille.

Upon arriving in Avignon, he led us through the city wall and narrow streets to the Papal Palace. After guiding us through a number of key locales, he took us to a famous bakery for some local delicacies and confections. We were then given a 60-minute window to roam on our own before a quick trip back to the terminal.

The tour was pleasant and completely tailored to our liking. Remy was funny and conversational. Highly recommended!

This was a great tour and was tailored to meet our interests. The guide was flexible and interesting. We would recommend this tour. She was punctual at the port and got us back on time.

Marie-Laure was a great guide, very informative, kind, and patient as we had a slow/disabled walker with us. She went to the extra trouble of bringing us into a bookstore when one of our party was writing down a lot of information on a particular topic she pointed out a book on that topic for him which he ended up buying. Avignon was a very charming town to visit.

Emmanual did a fantastic job. Lots of history was given and he was very good with the whole family. He also took great photos for us!

An excellent experience with a first class guide/art historian. We were able to avoid the lines and see the city and some of the important works such as " David"

We had a whole van to ourselves and our driver guide was very informative. Definitely worth doing if you want to see a real medieval city.

The city is beautiful and lots of charm as you walk around. Somewhat disappointing that papal residence is basically empty - so nothing really worth seeing inside. The guide was good - and told us a great deal about the region and French history.

It was great being in a small group - 4 people. Our guide was excellent - good mix of guide and information and free time.

This is the first Viator tour that we have been disappointed with and which did not live up to expectations. We paid a substantial amount of money for what turned out to be basically just a driver to and from Avignon. Our tour guide was very nice and very knowledgeable, and provided interesting info on the drive to Avignon. But once there she left us and we were entirely on our own in Avignon. She was not much more than a taxi driver. We are independent and had no problems with seeing the sights, but it was not what we thought we were paying for.

Our tour guide, Jean-Francois, was phenomenal. He was personable and attended every aspect of the tour and offered great explanations of sites.

However, due to a discrepancy between Viator's listed duration and the actual duration of the tour, we lost an entire hour in Avignon, reducing the total time from 5 to 4. While this may not sound like much, it takes a little over an hour to get to Avignon from Marseilles which means you lose two and a half hours just in driving leaving only 2.5 in town. Because of the time discrepancy, this was reduced to 1.5 hours, which amounts to a loss of 40% of quality time.

I purchased Palace of the Popes tickets with audioguides beforehand (as suggested in the tour description) which was totally spoiled by running through as quickly as possible to make it back for an earlier return than expected. For such an expensive tour I expected the advertised time to be more accurate, and felt my money was better spent doing another tour.
