What You Can Expect

East Maui Waterfalls and Rainforest Hike

Hike through Maui's Lush Rainforest

This Maui waterfalls and rainforest tour begins at your hotel door (if you’ve chosen the optional transport option). If you’d prefer to drive yourself to the start, the tour begins in Kahului towards the start of the Hana Highway.

You’ll then be driven past the town of Paia and famous Ho’okipa Lookout, where the road gradually begins to narrow and weave deeper into the rainforest. Arriving at a popular, East Maui valley, your local guide will lead you on trails away from the rest of the crowds. This area has been chosen for its large number of waterfalls—with some up to 40 feet (12m) high—and you’ll encounter at least three over the course of the 2.5-mile (4km), moderately difficult hike.

At a hidden pool, stop to take a refreshing dip or go jumping off of the rocks, where the 10-15 ft.( 3-4.5m) height from the water can lead to a thundering splash. Enjoy a healthy meal of sandwiches, fresh island fruit, and chips, and relax in the sun while seated on rocks at the base the tropical pool.

Dry yourself off and drink in the scenery of deep in the East Maui rainforest, before continuing the hike past even more waterfalls on the short walk back to the van.

This was an experience I will never forget. You do need to have good shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or rent the ones they have available. The waterfalls were gorgeous, and it was so much fun to jump off the ones that we could. There were a couple of places that we hiked that were a little steep and one place that we had to hold a rope to get down, but overall the hike was pretty easy. I highly recommend this tour - do NOT miss it!

This was one of our favorites. Our guide, Jeremy, was great. Very funny and knowledgeable about all things Maui. The hike was not difficult for the most part and he helped anyone who needed it. He showed us a lot of the vegetation and explaining facts about them. He gathered some passion fruit off the forest floor and we all got to try some , same with eucalyptus and ginger trees/plants. I would recommend this to anyone interested in nature and local vegetation.

This trip is a MUST HAVE, incredible experience. Very well organised, confirmed pickup time quickly after we booked online, via both email and phone call to the hotel room. Brian, our guide, very knowledgable, super funny and caring. Recommended sport sandals or their cute water shoes. 5 stars!

Our tour guide Kahi was Maui native and showed us great insights to the waterfalls and the vegetation throughout the tour. This is basically a tour within a huge farm they own with hiking trails to waterfalls where you can swim and dive into. Great experience and highly recommend Kahi as a tour guide! He was the best part!

Great hike. Lots of fun and the guide knew a ton about the local vegetation. We read reviews that warned of bugs but didn't have any issues with it. You do want to wear good shoes that can handle walking in water.

Twin Falls was the perfect way to experience the Hawaiian tropical rainforest and waterfalls for me as a single mom on vacation with 2 kids. It was an easy hike, just enough for the kids to enjoy before the whining set in. Also, having a guide turned out to be a good decision as when we were on our hike I saw many individual groups of people wandering around on the main trail trying to find the good spots. Our guide, Aaron, was perfect. He was personable and friendly and made it enjoyable. A local, he knew the trail very well and went out of his way to guide our group which was a good size- not too many people to different trails. He was aware of his surroundings and prioritized our safety. My favorite waterfall seemed to be the one people without a guide were having trouble finding- it had a nice deep pool that made for good swimming.

Shestin was our guide and it was fantastic. I encountered some difficulty in some spots and he was right there to help. I would say the hike was moderate to difficult. There is a ledge to climb, concrete walls about two fee wide to walk across, streams to wade and a tangled root forest to navigate. We stopped frequently so Shestin could explain the trees/plants. He was so knowledgeable! Really good shoes are a must. I had on a pair of tennis shoes and guess they had seen their better days because the sole separated from the shoe at the end. They were a really good brand too but a few years old. Sandwiches were good and the chocolate chip cookies on the ride back were delicious! I am 72 years old and feel very proud that I made the 3 mile hike! Thank you Shestin for your help and to the other nice guys on the hike who also offered a hand to me in some spots. My daughter did the cliff dive into the waterfalls and she loved it. No critters in the rain forest only human critters. It was fantastic. As for my bucket list -- rainforest hike: check!!!
