What You Can Expect

East Maui Waterfalls and Rainforest Hike

Hike through Maui's Lush Rainforest

This Maui waterfalls and rainforest tour begins at your hotel door (if you’ve chosen the optional transport option). If you’d prefer to drive yourself to the start, the tour begins in Kahului towards the start of the Hana Highway.

You’ll then be driven past the town of Paia and famous Ho’okipa Lookout, where the road gradually begins to narrow and weave deeper into the rainforest. Arriving at a popular, East Maui valley, your local guide will lead you on trails away from the rest of the crowds. This area has been chosen for its large number of waterfalls—with some up to 40 feet (12m) high—and you’ll encounter at least three over the course of the 2.5-mile (4km), moderately difficult hike.

At a hidden pool, stop to take a refreshing dip or go jumping off of the rocks, where the 10-15 ft.( 3-4.5m) height from the water can lead to a thundering splash. Enjoy a healthy meal of sandwiches, fresh island fruit, and chips, and relax in the sun while seated on rocks at the base the tropical pool.

Dry yourself off and drink in the scenery of deep in the East Maui rainforest, before continuing the hike past even more waterfalls on the short walk back to the van.

OMG! Amazing and beautiful! Our guide Gail was super! She had a great vibe about her, great energy, great personality, she was just greater than great!

The very first waterfall was the best and where we got the best pictures so make sure you break out that camera on the first waterfall, we got some amazing shots!

There is a little bit of everything, hiking, climbing, swimming, jumping off cliffs, going thru a dark tunnel to get to the other side in water up to your waist! Amazing fun!

Make sure you rent the water shoes with them only 2.00 because I wouldn't even want to get my old shoes muddy or wet because you do get mega-muddy and wet!

Highly, highly recommend this tour!

Hi Gail, we miss you, thank you for taking care of us by being the best tour guide ever!

We had the BEST time on our hike. Our guide, Dawn, was GREAT! Friendly, patient, and knowledgeable about the local plants and history of the island. She allowed us to try local fruits off the trees, eat edible plants, and jumped off waterfall cliffs with us! We would definitely do this hike again! ♡

This hike was the highlight of our trip to Maui. Learning about the history and nature of Maui, along with climbing and diving off of water falls, this trip gets a 5 out of 5. Our guide Eddie was easy to talk to and shared a wealth of knowledge, interweaving Hawaiian history with interesting agricultural facts. This was also a great photo op! We took so many amazing photographs to share and commemorate our anniversary trip. Thank you for the experience!

Do this tour!! Our guide Dan was awesome. He really knew his stuff about what nature had to offer on this hike. We tasted fruits and edible parts of plants along the way. What's really great about him is that he was attentive to everyone's needs: pace, bathroom breaks, need for sunblock, alternate routes for different mobility level and everything else. Of course, the Waterfalls and swim is amazing in itself. The company books small groups at different times throughout the day so that you can get a semi-private enjoyable swim unlike immensely crowded waterfall pools along Hana HWY or Kipahulu and great pictures without photo-bombers. Make sure you wear good water-sport sandals or shoes that you don't care if they get soaked or muddy. WEAR LOTS and LOTS of mosquito repellant! They supply you with spray but I would double spray if you're like me and bugs love to bite you.

Our guide, Dawn, was very knowledgable and made the whole experience enjoyable. The highlight for our family was jumping off the waterfall cliffs into the beautiful pools of refreshingly, cool water. We highly recommend!

Nice hiking tour to waterfalls. Very muddy so wear good hiking sandals. About a 3-4 mile hike through rain forest trails. It'd be good to be in decent shape and fairly comfortable in the outdoors. Jumping into the waterfall pools was awesome!
