Small-Group Luxury Tour: Road to Hana and Ka'eleku Cavern Day Trip

Travel the Breathtaking Pacific Coast by Luxury Van

Explore the Road to Hana inside a luxe limo-van during this small-group 9- to 10-hour day trip with gourmet lunch and a visit inside Ka’eleku Cavern. There’s no better way to experience Maui’s iconic drive to Hana than aboard this luxury transport, limited to just eight guests, plus a stop to explore a fascinating volcanic cavern.

Start your trip with a morning pickup from your Maui hotel, enjoying a light breakfast of pound cake, fruit juice and Kona coffee as you embark on your drive to Hana. Your high-end limo-van, which seats a maximum of eight passengers, also offers air-conditioning, plush seating and extra-large windows to enjoy the panoramic views. As you ride, your guide will provide commentary on the sights and add context about the island’s history and native Hawaiian culture.

Enjoy the jaw-dropping scenery en route, admiring lush rainforests and stunning coastline as you head toward your first stop at the charming village of Ke’anae, an idyllic town set among the area’s taro fields. Continue your ride to Waikani Falls, one of the road’s more impressive waterfalls, where you can admire its shimmering pools of rainwater.

Soon you’ll arrive at the amazing Ka’eleku Cavern. This giant underground space, created by volcanic activity thousands of years ago, is said to have been born thanks to Pele, the Hawaiian deity of fire. Check out the amazing range of stalagmites and stalactites found throughout this subterranean area, stopping to admire the surreal mounds of hardened “chocolate-like” lava that froze in place more than 30,000 years ago. It’s the perfect spot to grab a few photos.

Before continuing your trip, take a lunch break at a pavilion near the cavern. Enjoy a mouth-watering spread of seared ono with mixed greens, grilled chicken, vegetable pasta salad, brownie and fresh fruit. See the Itinerary below for a sample menu.

Proceed further along the road’s gorgeous scenery until you reach Hana. This isolated village along the rugged Pacific coast feels like a real-life tropical paradise thanks to its unspoiled beaches and luxuriant rainforests. Jump out of your limo-van to wander the area’s gushing waterfalls and thick groves of bamboo. Then join your guide for an exploration of the Hana Tropicals, a gorgeous plant nursery and garden that’s full of beautiful flowers and vegetation.

Make the return trip back home at a leisurely “Maui-style” pace, taking time to stop en route for swimming in one of the gorgeous freshwater pools and to simply kick back and enjoy the mellow vibes and gorgeous landscapes. Arrive back at your Maui hotel in the early evening.

Gayle was a very safe driver with a great love for the Hana Highway. Her enthusiasm showed the whole day. She was knowledgable about many of the plants we saw and knew the best places for pictures. The Lava Tube was interesting and the black sand beach was amazing! We had a great day. I highly recommend this tour.

Small-Group Road to Hana Luxury Tour with Temptation tours

Im glad we booked this tour! Our Guide / Driver Melanie Mel was great! Warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about the island of Maui. The road to Hana has over a hundred turns with at least a dozen or more single lane bridges! Did I mention, the rest of the road is two lanes but really like one and a half!

Yes one could drive this road themselves, but the driver is cheated from being able to fully appreciate the beauty that unfolds at every turn! Driving an unfamiliar windy narrow road, requires ones full attention! You could miss the rainbow eucalyptus trees, section of coastline that was in one of the Jurassic Park movies, waterfalls, and etc! Let alone the stress of drivingyou are on vacation after all to decompress from lifes little nuisances.

Mel, was a fantastic guide and an excellent driver! She was prompt at the pick-up from the hotel and the van was clean and very comfortable. No bench seats, but captains chairs for all! I would highly recommend Temptation Tours and Melanie!

The most recommended, it was like a private and customized tour with only Sue and two of us. Sue was very knowledgeable and super friendly, she even brought us to her secret spot, we were amazed by the power of mother nature, it was spectacular and unforgettable experience to us, thank you for taking care of us during the whole trip, Mahalo!!

Really enjoyed someone else driving, so we could enjoy the views. The lava tube cave was a fun exploration, the sea cave on the Hana beach was cool, and the swim under the waterfall was a refreshing adventure.

This trip was definitely worth the price. The limo van was very nice, and my husband and I were with two other couples for the entire day. A group of six was truly the perfect number for this tour we were all able to get to know each other, and we each had space and comfy seating. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, and we stopped at several beautiful waterfalls and parks off of the beaten path that we would have never found on our own, as well as an adorable orchid farm. Lunch was really tasty, and our driver set up everything for us to be ready to eat while we toured the lava cave. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The only downsides to this tour were that towards the end, I felt like our guide was continuing to ramble when we had all lost interest, and this tour made for a very long day of being in a vehicle.

We really enjoyed this trip! Melanie is a first-class guide with a wealth of knowledge, which made for a great experience. We took the trip with our three boys 12,13, and 14 and I'm glad that we did. I would have given this tour a 5th star if they could somehow shave a couple of hours off the duration because it made for an extremely long day, full of slow, winding roads, which had a few of us feeling a little green. I think my wife and I enjoyed the trip more than the boys did, so I would have to say this is a tour probably a little more suitable for grown adults than people with kids or teens, although they thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the chilly waterfall and exploring the cave tube. All in all, I'm very glad we went on this tour!
