Peñol and its (200-meter) granite monolith sit on the shores of Embalse Guatapé two hours outside of Medellin. On this private tour, leave the driving to someone else, save time waiting in long lines at the Piedra del Peñol visitors center, and take a guide walk through Peñol Village. This leaves plenty of time for a stroll through colorful Guatapé and a boat trip on the scenic reservoir.
Skip the line to climb El Peñol rock (Piedra del Peñol)

Views of Antioquia’s natural scenery from a boat on the reservoir
If you have a spare day looking for something to do, this may be interesting. It took my husband only 30 minutes to walk up and back down. Driving there from Medellin was scenic and long. The town is artsy and full of shops. That's it. DO NOT take a private tour as it is expensive and there is nothing that would benefit from doing one on this tour.
