Would definitely recommend the Hop on Hop off tour in any city to get an idea of where to delve further.
It does exactly what you would expect !! Ideal for those with limited time.
Great tour but they should have put on more buses to handle the volume of riders as there was a lot of pushing and shoving to get on buses and a lot of people had to stand
Taking in both St Kilda and inner city tours on the one day is great value and best done at the beginning of your stay then you will know your way round enough to plan a real great stay
Great sights. As they don't have earphones for the commentary it is best to sit inside the bus so you can hear it.
Excellent, a great way to see Melbourne. Bus departed from just outside the wharf terminal. Very helpful staff and drivers.

Easy to get around and see the city before choosing where to stop and explore. must to do if new in Melbourne!
Love the Hop On Hop Off HOHO tours in both Melbourne and Sydney. Fun stuff and great way to learn a bit about both cities while getting an idea of the layout of the cities. Highly recommend!
We always take this type of tour when we are visiting large cities in the world. This is the best way to see as much as possible of the city in a very short period. We were only in Melbourne a short time as we had flown down from Sydney for the day. We had a great day and saw much more than we would have if we had chosen a different tour. I would highly recommend this tour.
Hop-on hop-off is a fun way to see the city. It took you to all the important places.
It is a wonderfull way to see this beautifull and interesting city. The architecture of the skyscrapers was outstading.
The bus gave a generally good view of downtown and some of the surrounding areas. Unlike the HOHO bus in Sydney, which had earphones that you plug in, this one just had loud speakers, and there were a number of times you could not hear what the tour guide was saying, so definitely not as good as the HOHO bus in Sydney. But otherwise, a decent value.
This was a typical bus tour with narration. Good overview of city. Only complaint is that there was a long wait between pickups.
it was our first visit to Melbourne and had a day for a tour from our cruise ship. we booked thru Viator and it was super easy. had difficulties booking thru their website from Canada. Our intention was to do the routes and then decide where we'd like to get off to roam and discover. we sat on top in the front seats which were great for taking pics around town. we loved that it showed us many different neighbourhoods, museums, architecture, shopping, etc. HOWEVER, the routes were too long. By the time we decided where we wanted to go, we had to do that long route all over again. One other good thing was that Federation Square had free Wi-Fi from the bus. There was a narrative on the PA system so you could learn a little along the way.
Fun, but you do have to watch the time. We almost didn't make it back to my car, since the bus ran way past the pickup time.
Melbourne was a cruise port stop so I bought tickets online ahead of time. As you walk out of the port, it's a 7 minute walk to the main street and you can catch the red bus that transports you to federation square which is the 1 stop at 9:30am. Since I read reviews that wait time was long at each stop, we only got off at Chinatown to eat. Next, we caught the St Kilda line and got off at the stop before Station Pier for a beautiful walk back to the ship on a nice pathway to Station Pier which took about 15 minutes. The beach is beautiful. Right outside the pier, we noticed there were city bikes you can rent for an hour for cheap to see the coastline! We would also have done this if we had time.
We enjoyed our hop on hop off bus tour very much. But Viator booked us on this tour on New Years Day knowing it would not run that day. Luckily they honoured the ticket on the 2nd but it messed up our touring plans.
It is a great way to get an overview of this bustling city. It takes almost 4 hours to do both loops. You can't do too many hop offs because of the long time between buses and the time restraints of the schedule for the day.
Didnt manage to do both tours. One we did was ok but we had seen quite a few things whilst walking around city and going on trams.
Great easy way to see the sites and get a bearing of where everything of interest is in the city.
