What You Can Expect

Experience Yarra Valley: Beer, Cider, Wine and Food from Melbourne

Yarra Valley cheese and wine tasting

A popular spot for day-tripping Melbournians, the beautiful Yarra Valley offers an abundance of tasty pleasures to suit any palette. Your full-day food and wine tour begins with morning pickup at your Melbourne hotel. Relax on the comfortable minicoach as you enjoy a short and scenic 1-hour drive, towards your first stop of the day, Gateway Estate Farmhouse.

Upon arrival, head into the greenhouse facilities for a tour and tastings of fresh local produce including fruits and cheeses plus strawberry liqueurs and crèmes.

Next up is Napoleone Brewery & Cider House where you’ll be served a decadent paddle of three ciders and an ale made onsite at this rustic micro-brewery in the heart of the Yarra Valley. Using only premium estate-grown apples and pears, the ciders you’ll sample here are made onsite with 100% fresh juice. Nothing else, no concentrates, no additives, and they’re even gluten free!

Continue your day on a sweet note with a visit to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. This bright and cheerful shop dishes up homemade ice cream and more than 150 kinds of chocolate. Sample some of the sugary treats and take a stroll through the shop’s charming sculpture gardens.

Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, head to Rochford Winery where you will enjoy an educational and fun introductory wine class with tasting of Rochford’s award winning wines followed by a light lunch in the restaurant overlooking the vines.

After lunch, visit the family-run Dominique Portet winery and sample more wine over a friendly game of pétanque (similar to bocce ball).

Round out your tour with one last wine tasting and appetizers at the picturesque vineyards of Killara Estate in the upper Yarra Valley (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) or with a visit to Hanrahan Vineyard for a range of wine tastings and a cheese platter (Monday and Saturday).

With your belly full and your taste buds singing, enjoy the ride back to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off at back your hotel in the evening.

Great way to see Melbourne's scenic wine region. Our tour guide David was funny, friendly and knowledgeable and made the day flow so smoothly. There is a range of different places to see including a cider Napoleone, a few vineyards, and the Chocolaterie prepare for a sugar hit so there is something to please everyone.

This a great tour with a variety of experiences, not just wine tasting. We were picked up from St Paul's Cathedral in the city and the 65 kms drive to the valley was good. We had 17 on our trip which was a good size. Unfortunately we were a week too late to see capsicums growing in the green house at Gateway Estates, but still had the opportunity to taste various relishes and cheeses.
Pete's jokes are something else but he was a great tour guide. Would highly recommend this tour.

A great day tour. Our guide Leon was great, his commentary all day was very informative. The tour was varied, we saw how hydroponic capsicums and strawberries are grown and tasted wonderful local produce. Lunch and tasting at Rochford Winery was a highlight. Enjoyed a game of Pentonque at Dominique Perret, then went on to sample wonderful wines, apple cider and boutique beer, chocolate and ice cream and wood fired pizza. Great value for money and a fabulous day out. Would highly recommend this tour.
