Begin your day with pickup from St Paul's Cathedral on Flinders St, then travel by comfortable air-conditioned van for approximately one hour to reach the Yarra Valley.
Spend approximately 2.5 hours at Healesville Sanctuary, home to native Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas, wombats, and emus. See the animals in spacious enclosures that replicate their natural habitat, and learn about the care of injured wildlife at the on-site Australian Wildlife Heath Centre, where veterinarians treat sick and orphaned critters.
Once you have seen the animals, head to a local winery for lunch at their restaurant and a wine tasting that lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Save some appetite for a treat at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. Try some of their huge array of chocolates and perhaps purchase something to take home.
Your tour ends with drop-off at your starting point in Melbourne in the late afternoon.

Lunch was fabulous wine was delicious. But the best part was all the animals. Kangaroo, wombat, joeys on and on. Loved it. This is why I came to Australia to see the animals
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Gary was exceptional, very familiar with the area, and gave us a wonderful day. The sanctuary was a great experience and thanks to Marj, our guide for that tour - the time flew as we visited the animals and learned all about their habits. Off to the Yarra Valley wineries - great lunch and wine tasting at Tokar Estate Winery great wines at Dixon's Creek with even a little singing from our guide. I'd certainly recommend Wild Wombat Winery Tours for a great experience.
DO NOT MISS the sanctuary! This is a great way to see it! Comfortable ride, easy going tour guide, flexible schedule: spend the day how you like.
Two of my colleagues and I were speaking at a conference at Melbourne, and this was our last adventure before going our separate ways. It was just us three and another lady with our tour guide. We got a quiet guide who let us ladies talk amongst ourselves without interrupting something I appreciate!. We spent the first half of the day at Healesville Sanctuary, got lunch at a lovely winery in Yarra Valley, and stopped by a big chocolate store on the way back. Our guide offered to take us wherever we wanted for however long we wanted, but one of the ladies in our party wanted to get back to Melbourne before a shop closed. He obliged and got us there in time!
So over all: great, flexible service tailored to our group's needs, and excellent locations and adventures! Would recommend!
Great tour! Next time I would spend more time at the Winery and less time at the Sanctuary.
I think our hostess name was Sandy. She was wonderful!! She made our experience so much fun. The rochford winery was nice. I bought a bunch of gift items. I didnt care for the lunch as much. Would have wanted bolder flavors or white meat.
The sanctuary was amazing. Even though it rained, we saw the bird show, platypus show and saw wallabees in their routines.
Healesville Sanctuary - very nice place for 2 hours, Yarra Valley a place you should see when you are in Melbourne area. Green valleys, lots of vineyards you also will visit at least one for a vine testing with a great lunch served
