What You Can Expect

Melbourne City Sights Morning Tour with Optional Yarra Cruise

Melbourne Tram Car

This tour is a great introduction for anyone visiting Melbourne for the first time. Even repeat visitors are likely to learn something new! After morning hotel pickup in a comfortable coach, drive down Collins Street for a look at the upscale shops and commercial bustle of Melbourne’s Central Business District. Around this area you’ll also see cultural landmarks including the Princess and Regent Theaters, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the impressive architectural complex of Federation Square.

Take in some of the city’s beautiful green spaces, including the riverside Royal Botanic Gardens, where you’ll disembark for a walk around. Also visit charming Fitzroy Gardens, home to Captain Cook’s Cottage. Originally built in 1755, the famous seafarer’s home was dismantled in England and shipped stone by stone to Melbourne, making it the oldest building in Australia.

Stroll along stalls loaded with fresh regional produce, clothing and knickknacks at the historic Queen Victoria Market. Then, get a glimpse of Melbourne’s robust sporting culture as you cruise by the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the Australian Grand Prix track inside Albert Park and Rod Laver Arena, home to the Australian Open. You’ll stop at the Shrine of Remembrance, where Melbournians pay their respects to Australian war veterans.

After around 3.5 hours, your driving tour concludes with impressive views of the city skyline from across Bolte Bridge. If you like, purchase an optional upgrade to continue your tour with a 1-hour cruise along the Yarra River. From aboard a comfortable riverboat, you’ll float through the heart of the city past historic landmarks, river gardens and modern skyscrapers.

Alternatively, after your tour you have the option to visit the Eureka Tower Observation Deck. In less than 40 seconds you will arrive at Level 88 in the fastest lift in the Southern Hemisphere and be amazed by the views of Melbourne from the floor to ceiling windows.

This was a great tour with lots of information about the city. They timed it perfectly so that we could enjoy the daily Service at the Shrine of Remembrance. We added on the Yarra Cruise which we all enjoyed thoroughly. It's only about an hour but the cruise guide gave a different perspective about the port and we took great pictures of the diverse architecture in Melbourne.

Melbourne is the New York City of Australia: museums, theater, city parks and gardens, multiple sports arenas, and a shopping mecca. The optional Yarra river cruise allows one to relax and sit back and view this amazing city. This was our second visit to Melbourne and it wont be our last--highly recommend this tour!

Our tour guide/driver was Eddy a native born Melbournian, he was absolutely fantastic. We really enjoyed seeing all the places he took us to plus the extra insider comments he added. We were also fortunate enough that he was again the guide for our trip to see the Fairy Penguins on Philip Island another unforgettable tour. Thank you very much!!!

The coach driver was first class and very knowledgable. I was quite familiar with Melbourne since 1960 and she had a great source of information. We enjoyed the tour enormously.
