What You Can Expect

Snow Day Trip to Lake Mountain and Steavenson Waterfalls from Melbourne

Mystic Mountains Snow Fields Day Trip from Melbourne

Your full-day adventure begins in the early morning with hotel pickup in a comfortable minivan. Relax on the 2-hour drive to Lake Mountain resort, a popular weekend getaway for Melbournians. You’ll have a chance to purchase breakfast at a stop along the way.

Your guide will orient you to the layout of the resort, which encompasses 23 miles (37 km) of cross-country ski trails, plus open meadows and toboggan hills. Decide how you’d like to spend your 3 hours at Lake Mountain, whether it’s gliding across powder on cross-country skis, sliding on a toboggan or simply building a snowman. Ski lessons, snow gear and equipment rentals are available at the resort (own expense).
Purchase a meal at the resort’s on-site café for lunch, and then depart for Steavenson Waterfalls in the early afternoon. Enjoy a guided nature walk to the viewing platform where five different cascades plunge through the forest to the rocky pools below. With a total drop of nearly 400 feet (122 m), Steavenson is one of Victoria's tallest falls.

Continue on to the charming Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery to satisfy your sweet tooth. Explore tables piled high with more than 150 kinds of chocolate, and sample house-made cocoa goodies and ice cream. You might be tempted to purchase treats to take home, such as boxed truffles, single-origin bars and chocolate-covered nuts.

Relax after your adventure on the return drive to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in the early evening.

we all enjoyed the day trip to Lake mountain, the children were looking forward to seeing some snow and they were not disappointed to say the least. The bus driver was very helpfull and friendly and had some good advice to share at the snowl, we all enjoyed his company! as we did at the chocolate factory on the way home, hot chocolate was recommended and was a real treat! It was a very enjoyable day all round.

The tour was good especially on the mountain. However I wish that there was more time spent at the Chocolaterie while including an introduction about some history regarding the chocolaterie and some information on how chocolate is made.

Like it.
Too bad because of time due to the weather we can't go to the chocolate factory otherwise I will give straight 5!
But we will definitely use it again!
Our tour guide is so kind and nice I believe her name is Tina.
She is very well informed about everything during our trip.

Would've given five if we had had more snow at Lake Mountain.

We had a really beautiful day. I would however recommed going to the snow later on in the season to experience more snow coverage at Lake Mountain, as a lot of the resort was closed off. Our tour guide Simon Q, was very informative and helpful. He made this day an enjoyable and relaxing experience. I would highly recommend these tours to anyone visiting Melbourne or any locals looking to go on a mini day adventure.
