This was an amazing tour thanks to the wonderful, knowledgeable and professional tour guide/driver Augusto Tun from the local tour operator. We were the only 2 people and we were punctually picked up at our hotel and transported on a comfortable Mercedes Benz. Augusto is a very cautious driver and one of the most polite person we've ever met. He never rushed us and took his time to share his knoledge about the traditions, history, and the different kinds of flowers on our path. Campeche is very hot and humid but the city is almost magical and worth the heat. The restaurant we had lunch at was beautiful and the food delicious.

Had the fabulous Jose hoe-sway as the guide for our small group of six. Becal was the site of a very interesting tour of a home where artisans make Panama hats. There is of course an opportunity to buy hats, baskets and such afterward a range of prices and qualities. Campeche was beautiful, and began with a visit to the old city fortress. The lovely main district provides many beautiful opportunities for photos the central focus of the tour seems to be shopping, but I never felt I was being pressured. The only hiccup was lunch - the kitchen was clearly overwhelmed and so it took far too long. Our guide did everything he could to move things along, but was really powerless in this situation thank goodness no one in our group got grumpy over this situation. To his great credit, Jose did not try and rush us through the rest of the trip. There is a charming small museum, and it was actually great fun to be in the center of town in the early evening to see all the hustle and bustle.

The van that was used had all the windows covered so one could not see out. This is not a proper means of transportation for a sightseeing tour. The highlights were the visit to the town of Becal, a tour of the fort, and a delicious meal. The guide was very layed back. The tour needed energy.

There were only 2 people I didn't know her personally on that day but my guide could not manage the time properly. OK, I was faster and she was slower but it's not a good excuse. Why? He should have told her how much time we got in each place, he shouldn't have let her spend too much time at some places. Worse than that, when we were walking together in Campeche, he should not have asked her if she wanted to buy something at a shop. A good guide should let people do shopping during the free time, not the time we are in a group together. Because he asked her if she wanted to buy something at a shop and she decided to do shopping, I had to wait for her in front of the shop! And in the end, I had no free time to walk in Campeche on my own!
