Our guide was amazing and the whole day long experience was one we will never forget. The food at the beach restaurant was very good, but also rich, lots of cheese and cream sauce.
Excellent time even though it was the off season for the birds. Nice lunch on the beach and enjoyed the ride through the mangroves.
The highlight of this tour was definitely the flamingos. We got to see hundreds and hundreds of them and it was quite breathtaking to do so. Our boat driver did a great job of finding us spots to get nice views of the flamingos. When either our guide or boat driver would see something like a crocodile or perched blackhawk during the boat ride, they would get us to within a safe distance to watch and take pictures.
After we were done with the boat ride, we went for lunch. The stop here was for a couple of hours. After lunch we basically had a good amount of leisure time to walk around the beach or do some sunbathing.
All in all a great tour!

This trip was terrific! Our guide, Wilbur, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw thousands of flamingos on the boat ride, and we got quite close so we could take photos and enjoy the experience. When we went through the mangroves, Wilbur proved he was good at spotting birds and wildlife: we saw coatis, a green kingfisher, and a black and white warbler. Lunch was also good--because you purchase it separately from the tour, you get to order whatever you want. Try the ceviche.
Beyond my expectations. We saw thousands of flamingos in large flocks just like the picture. No petrified forest but we had a delicious lunch.
Perfect day! Courteous mini van driver. Boat tour was amazing.got as close as possible to the flamingos and alligators. Beach and drinks were great finish to a perfect day!
Great tour. Not too many flamingos out and about, but the mangroves were great and lunch in Celestun was a pleasure. Would do it again
Great side trip. There were perhaps over a thousand flamingoes.
Mangrove tour was very interesting. A nice visit to a beach, and seafood lunch,
(probably in place of the petrified forest) but nobody minded. Wonderful New Years Day.
The flamingos are beautiful and we saw a lot of them. It is a nice trip.
I was all set to give this a one star rating after I got into the bus to go to Celestun. The windows of the bus were painted over with ads so you couldnt see out! Then the TV was tuned into ads for the tour company, Myayland tours. It was a bad start. I paid good money for a fun tour not to be subjected to more ads. However, once we got to Celestun, things got much better. The boat ride was great. We saw lots of Flamingos and other birds as well: Wood Stork, Brown and White Pelicans, White Ibis, Am Coots, White and Great Blue Herons. We passed though a narrow opening in the mangrove, saw a fresh water spring. After the boat ride we spent a couple hours on a beautiful beach and had a great fish dinner not included in the tour package, but reasonably priced. Maybe 3.5 stars overall
The trip and everything we saw was amazing, the only complaint I had is that it could very well have been a half day trip. The afternoon was just a stretch on that if you do not want to swim at the beach, it is a big waste of time.
The flamingos experience was so nice though you can almost disregard the afternoon.
This was a nice trip to Celestun. The boat ride was excellent. there were not too many flamingos as it was the end of the rainy season. More can be seen in Jan-Feb time frame. The restaurant for lunch not included in price was also excellent. Enjoyed blue crab, local fish and grilled shrimp. Delicious. Watched local fisherman bring their catch to shore.

I took two teenage daughters who loved riding the boat out to the flamingos and getting to swim in the cenote. We even saw a couple of baby crocodiles sunning within feet of the walking deck. I wish I had brought a stronger camera with zoom lens. The ecological reserve was great but I was a little disappointed in the beach itself, as the village is rather undeveloped and not spruced up for tourists. Discarded plastics were a problem.

Good day out if you like to get away from the towns and city. Some beautiful scenery along the way, just be sure to have insect repellent. The beach at the end on a hot day is great.
There were only 5 other people on this tour which was nice. We very much enjoyed the boat ride and watching flamingos. There were so many of them! Drive through mangroves was also very nice. We just wish the boat ride was a bit longer. Beach in Celestun was empty compared to beaches in Playa del Carmen and Cancun. There were mainly local families enjoying their beach time together. It had a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Very pleasant day trip to escape the heat of Merida.
Knowledgeable English speaking guide, good transportation. Well organised, but expensive. Lunch was not included for us, but the place we went served excellent food with a nice beach in front. Hotel pickup is only within a certain range from the city center.
All in all this tour is perfect if it was half of the price.
Enjoyed the opportunity to see the flamingos in a bio preserve but really the boat ride was only an hour or so of the day. The better part of the day was getting in and out of Mérida after picking up a number of people at different hotels. Then after the mangrove swamp, we were taken to a restaurant of the companie's choosing where we had to feed 20 ish people before we really had the opportunity to get in the water.
In truth, it took over 3 hours to get to Celestun and another 2 hours to get back. I might try to find a tour that had less guests so that we weren't spending the better part of a day on a bus.
The boat trip was good and our guides were pleasant and knowledgeable, but in comparison with other trips we've taken it feels like very little is included for the price. In hindsight we should have just hired a car for the day and paid for a guide when we got there.
The trip was pretty good. We did get to see some flamingos, but unfortunately it was too early to see a large number. There had been a rise in the water and much of the wildlife was driven further into the mangroves . We did see lots of birds- cormorants, herons, Mexican pelicans and frigate birds. Our guide was good at naming the birds in both Spanish and English. The boat ride into the mangroves was good. Some swam and on our way out we saw a baby alligator. That was really cool. The beach break was a bit long for us although others in the party enjoyed it. In all a pretty good day. FYI lunch is not included in this tour as with other Viatours and we thought maybe it was a bit pricey for what we got. The boat ride area is very touristy.
The tour of the Celestun Flamingos and the Mangrove Boat Ride was very good. However, Mayaland's tour guide informed us that the
Tempeten Petrified Forest was in a different area and did not form part of this tour, even though we had paid for it. Mayaland, yet again,
misrepresented what had been sold to us. This marred what would have been a very nice day.
