A very interesting tour that let you learn about the interactions between the Maya and the Spaniards from the colonization days to current time and the efforts done by the Spaniards to both destroy and maintain traditional Maya religion and culture.

First: the tour guide arrived on time. An applause for it. Augusto Tun was very friendly, patient, explaining everything in detail. I was the only one in the tour so I have my own exclusive guide. Izamal is a beautiful city, full of colors and history. We had lunch in a great place. It is a pity that Merida is mostly known for Chichen Itza when there are places as this one that should be promoted worldwide.

Izamal is definitely a magical place. Our tour guide/driver Augusto Tun was awesome! He picked us up at our hotel in Mérida and transported us on a Mercedes Benz to our destination since we were the only 2 people on the tour that day. We climbed the ruins, visited the church and monastery where he explained know detail the history and architectural details of the buildings and the town. We took a nice ride on a beautiful carriage to a beautiful restaurant with the most delicious traditional Yucatán food. Augusto is a very knowledgeable, courteous and polite guide.

VERY knowledgeable guide. My one frustration was the lack of opportunity to wander some of the side streets. The driver of the horse drawn carriage would not pause at interesting sites possibly because they could not do so within the half hour alloted for this activity.
