Amigo Tours it is! Jocelyn, our tour guide is very nice, friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Mexico. Highly recommended!
Very well organized--Great guide Joselyn. Highly recommended tour -- there is traffic getting in and out of Mexico city but Cholula and Puebla are worth a visit
Puebla and Cholula are well worth taking this tour. Our bus was about 15 minutes late, but given the traffic in Mexico City this was not bad. Our tour guide was GREAT! We learned so much about the history of Mexico during the drive to Mexico. This is an all day tour.
We did not get back until about 8:30pm, but it was worth it.
Great day out and really good value. Our guide Sergio was fantastic - really knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming and spoke excellent English. There's a lot to see in Puebla but the day was a really good introduction to it and we saw some stunning churches and beautiful buildings. The restaurant chosen for lunch was really good - clean and had a good selection of traditional food. I also really enjoyed the journey there and back - watching roadside life and seeing just how big Mexico City is. We visited shortly after the earthquake but that didn't impact our visit. The best way to help the country get back to normal is to visit and spend your tourist pesos. You'll be made very welcome.
Very nice tour. I saw must of colonial history . Amazing cities, amazing buildings and gardens, beautiful streets and markets. You can see old library, big churches from the hills, try local food, buy atractive home made souvenirs. Our guide was perfect and very comfortable trip. I like this trip and recommend it to everybody who visit Mexico.
The tour guide was amazing. He translated everything in Spanish and English. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour organizer was great as well. I saw her running around before the buses left making sure very thing was good to go. The bus was easy to recognize and they did a great job at giving us time to look around. The drive there was longer than I expected so the tour definitely took all day 8:30 AM till 8 PM. I'm happy I got to go see both places, but I think it would be worth my while to go back to Puebla on my own to see the city more.
Excellent tour that provides the opportunity to get out of the busy city to see the countryside and visit the beautiful pyrymid, church and city of Pueblo / Cholula. Seeing an actual smoking volcano was amazing!!
I don and #39;t normally do tours and this one changed my mind about them. It was the highlight of my trip. Ernesto was so knowledgeable and personable, I wish I could have recorded all his stories. It and #39;s why I chose Mexico, for its fantastic history, traditions and of course the food.
Nice trip. Puebla city is a peaceful Town and Tour guy is great, fun and knowledgeable about history of the Churches.
This was a great tour. Nice to get out of the City and see the volcanoes. Cholula was beautiful, but I enjoyed walking around old town Puebla and eating in the local restaurants. Amigo tours provided an excellent guide Kevin who had great passion for the history of the area. The rest stops were well planned as well as the meeting and drop-offs.
Great tour. Beautiful cities. In Cholula, the only stop is to walk to the top of the pyramid to see the chapel. It is strenuous. Be sure to have water and wear good shoes. There is shopping close by if you dont want to see the chapel. In Puebla, the restaurant was so-so. The buffet was 140 mx or you could order a la carte, which is what I would recommend....or just get out and explore the town. Eventually we were taken to the Candy Street and told to meet in 40 minutes. It was hardly enough time to get to the meeting place. Other than that, all good.
This tour was amazing! Jerson our guide was very knowledgeable about everything! And very polite, funny, friendly and helpful! Our driver was very Profesional!! I will do this tour again and will definitely recommend it to my friends.
Great Guide and great bunch of people on the tour.
We started with a tour of Puebla, had quite a bit of free time to discover the craft market or if you wanted art of the city and headed for lunch as nobody in our group booked the lunch we all ended up in a couple different restaurants. We then went to visit the Cathedral and headed to Cholula to visit the Church of Santo Domingo. If you have time, try to get to the Pyramid as well.
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It was sad to see the damage to the architecture because of the recent earthquake. Was a long day. I recommend this trip to those who are spending few days in Mexico city.
Traveling as a female alone in Mexico City, with no Spanish, allowed me to appreciate these tours. I would not drive in Mexico City, therefore this was the best choice. I reserved this on Christmas day...I expected the cities and towns to be somewhat quiet and dead...but they were packed with locals and tourists. If you want to get out of Mexico City, get some great views away from the city, including the volcanoes...it is worth your while. Fabulous shots of the volcanoes and also life outside Mexico City. The bus driver and tour guides are always excellent and to their best to make it a wonderful experience for all.
I am a CC points woman, and use my CC as much as possible to earn points towards free flights. This was my 4th and last tour I took. The 3 prior I had no problem paying for anything with CC. But, on this 4th one...the place they took us to lunch, offered a buffet. But, I chose to order off the menu. When it was time to pay, they had issues with their CC machine and I had to go looking for a safe ATM to get cash to pay. This was somewhat an inconvenience, considering you would rather explore...but the guide was EXTREMELY helpful and managed to find a safe area filled with ATM's and bring me to it. I would have preferred to eat in another restaurant near the park though. The restaurant the tour takes you to, was OKAY but empty. Having been in the restaurant business...the less people, the less the food is fresh. Considering the restaurants near the square were packed, I would ask tour guide where to meet, and venture off on my own to eat.
As other reviews mention, the time to get there and back, is definitely an issue. But again, for me...a woman alone, no Spanish...it served a wonderful purpose. The other tours with Amigos had a large bus. This particular tour, had a smaller Mercedes bus. I would have preferred the larger more roomier bus for such a long trip. The Mercedes bus was very cramped with little leg room. I felt sorry for some of the taller men on board.
Yes, I would have preferred to have more time to explore in both Puebla and Cholula...but since that was NOT an option for me...this was truly the next best thing. :-
Beautiful places as Puebla and Cholula needs a bit more time. I should expect more active approache from our guide.
The tour was great. We had a chance to see the beautiful ruins of the Pyramids with a church built on top of them and the churches in Old City of Puebla. Our guide Mizraim was very friendly and helpful in giving a lot of background info. The bus was always around to pick us up. The only thing I would improve is maybe a more thorough english translation prepared for the participants who do not speak spanish. I was really interested in all the historical facts and legends shared but I felt that because I couldn't understand much spanish I missed a lot of interesting facts. Overall the group was great and the trip was fun.

Good tour with bilingual guide. My pickup point was Hotel NH Collection Mexico City Reforma in Zona Rosa not to be confused with Hotel NH Mexico in Centro Historico. There, an Amigo Tours bus picked up several tourists visiting different places. This bus dropped us at Centro Historico, where another bus picked some of us for the Cholula tour. Unfortunately, we had to spend 45 min waiting for this bus to depart, because a couple of people in our group were missing. Actually, they had been waiting at the same place all along, but hadn't realized that they were supposed to board our bus.
On the way to Cholula, we stopped at a gas station, said to be a volcano lookout point. The visibility there was not good because of fog Feb 2017, although we saw other beautiful landscapes on the way. Our first stop at Cholula was the beautiful Tonantzintla church. No interior photography was allowed there.
Next we visited the Pyramid and the Church located at its top. We were given sufficient time to explore the place on our own. The tour guide didn't tell us about the Regional Museum of Cholula, which is located behind the pyramid. We were given some free time, during which I exploring this museum. Some others in the group chose to spent their time at the local market. I recommend skipping the market and visiting the museum instead you'll visit a market in Puebla anyway. The museum is large and well-maintained: it houses ancient as well as modern artifacts, and the entry is free. You will not get sufficient time to visit the market as well as the museum. Actually, you will not be able to cover the entire museum either, but at least you can make a quick visit to the every room in the museum. Also, if you are a very slow hill climber, you might not be left with any free time after getting down from the pyramid.
In Puebla, the tour guide brought us to a buffet place for lunch, but everyone wanted to explore other restaurants. After the lunch, we experienced a 45-min delay, because some of the group members did not return to the designated meeting place on time. Other than that, everything went as per the plan. There happened to be a colorful carnival in Puebla. Finally, we visited the candy street, which I found to be highly overrated Your mileage may vary.
The tour was very good and a good guide but the organisation of pickup was very badly organised and added well over an hour to the day, which was very long anyway.
