What You Can Expect

Lake Como Day Trip from Milan

Explore the picturesque town of Bellagio on your Lake Como Day Trip!

One of the largest bodies of water in Italy, Lake Como's best sights vary with the time of year you visit. On this tour, you’ll travel with a guide to discover the highlights of the area around the lake with an itinerary tailored to the season. Food and drinks are at your own expense throughout the day.

Winter Tour: (November to March)
Relax on your 1-hour morning journey from Milan to Lake Como. Hop out to stretch your legs on a tour of Como, the lake’s main town, and learn about its key sights around the historic center. From town, take the gondola to the village of Brunate, a serene spot in the hills above Como.

Gaze down at the lake, flanked by the Rhaetian Alps, and then make the most of some free time for lunch. Return to Como by gondola before the highlight of your day: a Lake Como boat tour. The water offers the best vantage point to see the lake and shorelines; keep an eye out for chic villas and luxury hotels as you cruise. Cernobbio’s opulent Villa d'Este hotel is one such sight with its grandiose façade and tropical gardens.

After your return to shore, enjoy some free time to see the sights at your own pace, shop or perhaps sip a coffee. Then, finish your time in Como with a visit to the Basilica of Sant’Abbondio, a Romanesque-style 11th-century church, before your return to Milan.

Summer Tour: (April to October)
After your 1-hour coach journey from Milan, start your tour of Como with a look inside two of its historical attractions: the Basilica of Sant’Abbondio and the neoclassical Villa Olmo on the lake. Continue into Como’s historic center, and use your free time to get to know the town at your own pace with some sightseeing or shopping for Lake Como keepsakes.

Meet back with your guide for an extended 2-hour cruise around Lake Como, admiring the hillside villas and hotels, and pose for photos against the backdrop of the alps.

Return to dry land in time for your trip to the colorful seaside town of Bellagio, which many pinpoint as a highlight of the lake. Spend some time at your leisure here to explore and perhaps savor lunch. Later, cruise to Cadenabbia, then return to your coach for the journey back to Milan.

We visited Como and Lake Como from Milan. The bus trip to the lake town of Como wasn't long. Our guide was excellent and advised all the local history and sights of Como, Lake Como, the villages around the lake and the famous local residents. After visiting the town of Como and seeing the sights, we boarded the ferry to Bellagio. This was a great trip seeing all the villages and lake side houses and villas. On arrival at Bellagio we had ample time to wander around and also have lunch at one of the many local restaurants and cafes. After luch we took a short ferry ride across the lake where we were met by the bus to take us back to Milan around the lake road. We recommend the trip to any first time travellers to the area who enjoy a guided tour and the relaxation of the bus and ferry trip.

Day Trip was wonderful - not only did we get the chance to walk around the town but also the boat trip up to Bellagio. Be aware that there are some steep steps in Bellagio to get to the main shopping alley, but grab some gelato and enjoy the casual walk down.

The weather was nice to take the boat ride. It was picturesque and so lovely, that one can easily fantasize living in one of those houses.

Excellent experience: unique place to visit, boat trip is important aspect, a lot to cover for one day emphasis is on being on lake and in Bellissimeo not long in Como City. Would recommend to others.

Amazing trip to lake Como. Weather was beautiful and the best part was the town of Bellagio on the shores of lake Como. Boat ride from Como to Bellagio also interesting, but a bit too long. Make sure you have your camera fully charged, lots of opportunities for incredible pictures. If you have an extra day in Milan, I highly recommend this trip.
