Il Cenacolo
Leonardo's masterpiece, the Last Supper, one of the world's greatest painted masterpieces occupies the end wall of the previous refectory of the XVth century Domenican Monastery. Painted by Leonardo between 1495 and 1498 portrays the Apostoles seated together with Jesus when Jesus announced that one of them would betray him. The Disciples' emotion transpiresfrom their gestures, mouvements and faces and contrasts with the apparent immobility of Christ who dominates the centre of a rigously symmetrical composition in perfect perspective. The painting was miraculously untouched by the August 1943 bombings which damaged the nearby cloister and part of the church.

You’ve got to do this tour!

What an amazing tour! Our tour guide, Elena was the perfect combination of friendly, courteous and professional. Our family was amazed by her knowledge of the painting and historical events around it. So glad we did this!

Changed the time last minute
, Dec 2019
On the day of our tour which was also the day we were flying in they changed the time of our tour from 5pm to 3:45. Needless to say we were late as we had to rush from the airport to the tour. We literally made it to the last 25 Minutes. I’m not sure I understand changing the time on someone same day and without even talking with them. Not worth the money for the trouble it caused
Had a great time!

Last Supper with a guide
, Nov 2019
We had 15 minutes in the actual room with The Last Supper. It wasn't crowded. I was very glad to have gone with a guide because he prepared us for the viewing by giving us history of the times and Leonardo. In the room, he explained the significance of the painting. It was much better than if I had gone on my own.
Fabulously exciting experience

Quick and wonderful. The guide imparted the history really well. Started on time so don’t attempt to be late! We got there just on time and one person was late so did not make it. You really get time in the room to look at “last supper” again the 15 min is strictly adhered to!

Excellent tour. The guide was very knowledgeable. Well organized. We had sufficient time to see the painting and the area where it was painted.
Great tour!

Whilst only very short (about 45 mins), it was great that there were limited numbers of people allowed in to see the The Last Supper at any one time as this enabled you to get really close to the painting and take your time admiring it. Very different to the Mona Lisa at the Louvre! Our guide was very knowledgable.
Great... but blink and you’ll miss it

I missed out on seeing the Last Supper when I visited Milan in November, so came back in July determined to see it. By the time I cane to book the only tickets available seemed to be through Viator, though the cost was similar, if not the same as booking directly. We got good instructions on meeting place and time, and after an initial mix up with another tour, eventually found our guide. She was knowledgeable, had great language skills and was friendly. The Last Supper itself didn’t let me down, and I’m glad I can say I saw it. But... the tour was at breakneck speed and from getting our headphones to the end of the tour took less than 30 mins. The time in the refectory was unsurprisingly limited due to the need to push many many tours through each day. But I have to say it felt massively rushed and there was no time to sit and simply ‘look’.

Okay, we left it with only 2 weeks to go before looking for tickets and went through Viator as they had tickets and the site itself did not. We were told that someone would be in touch with info on when the tour would start but we are still waiting and we are back from Milan now. With only 2 days until we left for Milan we found a contact number for Viator eventually. The lady there was most helpful and told us when to be on site and emailed to confirm. That said I didn't like the uncertainty this had left us in. The tour guide was a charming lady but we felt that she was padding out the information to fit with the entrance timings. S A lot of what she told us was very interesting though.
