Meet your guide at the Museo del Novecento near the Duomo in central Milan. Begin with the painting called 'Quarto Stato,' or 'The Fourth Estate,' by Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo. The piece, painted in 1901, shows a group of workers on strike.
Make your way through the museum, arranged chronologically, to see works of art by the likes of Picasso, Kandinsky, Matisse, and more. The majority of the pieces on display are by Italian artists, with a large collection by Italian Futurists. The Futurism movement got its start in Italy in the early part of the 1900s, impacting literature, music, and architecture as well as art.
Continue through art made during the Fascist regime, followed by the post-war informal style. Finish your tour with artwork from the 1950s and 1960s, created by Manzoni and Fontana.
