What You Can Expect

Canyonlands National Park Half-Day Tour from Moab

Travel to some of the Canyonlands' best sights in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle

Your tour begins in the middle of Moab where you’ll meet you professional guide, who will help you get comfortably situated inside of the off-road, 4WD vehicle. Enjoy the 30-mile (48km) drive from Moab to Canyonlands National Park, where you’ll explore the popular Island in the Sky District with its spectacular desert scenery.

Start off atop a mesa with views looking out over the horizon before your guide deftly maneuvers the switchbacks of Shafer Trail. On this section of the 100-mile (161-km) White Rim Road Loop, you’ll make stops at spectacular Gooseneck Overlook and famous Musselman Arch, and photograph vistas of the Colorado River and the view from Thelma and Louise Point.

In addition to the popular lookouts, your expert guide will take you to spots that aren’t as frequently visited, where you’ll find everything from ancient Pueblo rock art to vertical views down the canyons. You’ll learn the history of the Pueblo people who inhabited the Four Corners area, and aside from the culture and history lessons, your guide will also explain the geology of the red rock canyons before you.

When you stop for a break to take photos, venture out on one of the short trails that leave from many of the viewpoints; you’ll get a different perspective and angle for photographing the canyons.

When this Canyonlands tour from Moab is over, your guide will return you to the middle of Moab to the spot where the tour began.

Buzz, our guide, was fantastic. What a geography, geology, archeology, history and sightseeing adventure all rolled into one. NAVTEC really made our trip to Utah one we will never forget. If we had it to do over, we would have spent even more time in Moab so we could experience even more adventures than this plus the Arches National Park 4X4 adventure.

Wonderful half-day exploration of Canyonlands. Larry was a terrific guide he taught us so much about the Park and Moab in general, which was exactly what we needed as first-time visitors. We hope to return someday!

The trip was fun. Chris did an excellent job showing off that part of the canyon. the climb out was a series of steep cutbacks with little room for error. Plenty of photo ops and a great explanation of the canyon. The stop for close ups of Monitor and Merrimac was a bonus

We thoroughly enjoyed this 4X4 tour of Canyonlands. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us an incredible tour. We took three tours with Navtec this week, this one to Canyonlands, an equally incredible 4X4 tour to Arches, and a great raft trip on the Colorado. Everyone was great, all guides were courteous and knowlegeable, and we highly recommend these trips.

We wanted to go on this tour because we had visited Canyonlands before and saw the road down inside. This tour helped us understand the vastness of Canyonlands, as we only saw a tiny portion. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out many things we would not have otherwise known. The guide made the ride enjoyable for my son as he took advantage of the 4X4 and explored the terrain. If you want to confront a fear of heights, this is the tour to take. I have that phobia, but overcame it to enjoy the trip. This is the best tour we could have booked to accomplish our desire to travel inside the canyon, other than taking one or more days.
