What To Expect

Make your own way to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park at the time that is convenient for you.

Your self-guided tour can begin anywhere you like in the 100-acre park. Take a look around the USS Alabama and get a feel for life on a battleship during World War II. As you walk around the ship, you can peak into the kitchen, doctor's quarters, radio room, and more. The ship served as a set for the 2016 movie USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, which starred actor Nicolas Cage.

Next, check out the USS Drum, the oldest American submarine on display to the public. The submarine was deployed in the Pacific theater, sinking several Japanese warships and providing reconnaissance at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Continue to the Aircraft Pavilion to view the 28 historic airplanes and military vehicles on display.

Other wars receive recognition at the military park. To honor the 100th anniversary of WWI, the Great War exhibit opened in March 2016, and memorials throughout the park include the Korean Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the Fallen Hero’s 9/11 Memorial, and a monument for Military Service dogs.

Check the calendar for special events such as historical reenactments performed by the Living History team every other month.

Excellent highly recommend

Walking through history, living history from the stories told, the sights seen, reading the articles, checking out the sailors lives, better then learning history in school, here you are immersed in it!
Rich_S, Oct 2021
Submarine tour first experience always had heard about close and confined spaces. No place to be if you are clostrafobic.

Totally amazing experience! And we would go 10 more times if we had the time before our vacation was over! 110% recommend to everyone of every age! And if you have a baby who isn’t of age to walk yet, I suggest wearing them in a baby sling! It will help tremendously!

A tour through history
Monica_J, Aug 2021
The simulation is awesome! We loved the self guided tour through the submarine and the battleship. The whole tour through history was amazing.
Absolutely amazing
Sara_B, Aug 2021
The entire battleship was amazing, we would tour it again! It is so neat how it takes you back in time!
What a cool place!
Nicole_P, Aug 2021
This place was awesome. The boys and I loved it. Such a cool experience and the tours we're actually laid out quite well if you pay attention to the numbers. We took at least 4 hours to go through everything, my 3 old was able to keep up but dragging towards the end. The battleship has lots of narrow stairs. But worth it
young kids & adults enjoyed, win for all!

We stopped here while driving between Florida and Texas, and weren't 100% sure if this was a good idea, but our family thoroughly enjoyed this visit. Our kids (ages 7 and 5) loved climbing all over the ship and submarine. We will definitely do this again when passing through the area.
Love this facility

Patty_B, Aug 2021

Virginia_F, Aug 2021
A lot to explore! We all had a great time! The worst part was the heat! The crowd would be the second worst. Reasonable pricing!
Angela_S, Aug 2021
It is so cool to see an amazing part of history. My husband was in the navy, so he was able to share information with my boys about the ship.
Battleship park Great
Kent_L, Jul 2021
Enjoyed all the up close reality of the equipment on display here. Very clean and well organized facility Thanks to all the men and women ( combat/non combat ) that were and still involved with our armed forces
Self tour
Jenny_P, Jul 2021
Being able to go through the ship and sub at our own pace. The path layout was organized and helped you maneuver the areas without missing parts, which would be easy to do with all the compartments.
Road Trip 2021
Billy_M, Jul 2021
Very interesting & organized. Be prepared for a lot of walking & climbing stairs/ladders. Well worth it!
Great tour
James_R, Jul 2021
My 15 yr old son loves anything to do with the military, and thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the battleship, all the aircraft and tanks. The ONLY issue we had was that horrendous entrance and exit out of the park. You REALLY need a light there.
Awesome experience
Kristen_J, Jul 2021
Getting to explore the USS Alabama. I wish I could have seen her in her hay day. I love the era from which she came from.
Great time
Samuel_P, Jul 2021
Love a piece of History. A must visit for all ages. My wife and oldest granddaughter had a great time
Jason_P, Jul 2021
The ship was opened up much more than when I last visited many years ago. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Awesome and amazing to behold and appreciate the crews activities
Eugene_P, Jul 2021
The ship was awesome to see and to appreciate how the crew lived and what they had to do to efficiently operate the ship. It is amazing how every activity aboard the ship had to come together like clockwork to make things work like they were supposed to. And to be able to fire the main guns 1 round every 30 seconds had to be a sight to behold. My only constructive feedback would be to cool the theater a bit more to better enjoy the entire movie and to reduce the fuel smell in the engine room.
Neat Family outing
Brian_N, Jul 2021
We enjoyed the battleship as well as the Submarine! The Airplanes and tanks were an added bonus. Gift shop is a little small and the attached restaurant was closed. Overall great experience.
Awesome experience!
Carol_S, Jul 2021
Going through the battleship and climbing almost to the top! Great experience for an avid history buff!
Great Memory of History
Hollie_V, Jul 2021
The experience was great! The employees were nice and very helpful. My family and I enjoyed visiting the USS Battleship Museum Park! Thank you to all who served and still serve our country!
B & J’s Adventure
Debbie_F, Jul 2021
We brought our grandsons, and they had a blast. They’re nine and six years old and any attraction that you take them to you better make sure there’s plenty for them to keep their little minds active and I have to say the ship in the submarine was the perfect attraction
Wayne, Jul 2021
Very long battleship, shows a lot of history from WWII. Self guided tour with a map to show all decks. But there is a lot of walking and climbing that will exhaust you.
