Begin your food discoveries on the French Riviera with morning pickup at your hotel in Monaco. Climb into a comfortable 8-person minibus and head west along the coastal road toward Nice. Relax on the drive, taking in the wonderful Mediterranean views.

The first stop on your foodie tour is the little town of Opio. Situated on a hill to the east of Grasse, Opio is home to an olive mill that produces some of the best olive oil in the French Riviera. Sample some of that famous oil, along with an olive tapenade (a relish made from diced olives).

Travel on to Mont Alban to see the 16th-century hilltop fort, which is a great viewpoint from which to see not only Nice but also the pretty town of Villefranche as well as much of the rest of the Mediterranean coast.

Next, head into Nice itself for the final stop on your tour. Visit a local restaurant near the port to sample some dishes that are typical to the city. These are called 'Nissart,' and this cuisine – along with much of the cuisine of the French Riviera – is often a mix of both French and Italian culinary styles.

Taste a thin pancake made with chickpea flour that's called a 'socca' and a tart made with sweet onions called a 'pissaladiere.' Drink some refreshing rosé as you eat, learning about the culinary history of the area as well from your foodie guide.

We had a lovely tour with a great driver who allowed us plenty of time to see all that we wanted but sadly the Olive oil tasting was marred by the fact that the factory was closed and we had to have a tasting in the shop only. However, the company have promised a 20% discount by way of apology and the rest of the tour was very interesting including an unscheduled stop off in a chocolate factory which was right up our street!
